9.5/10I had a buy a gift Woucher so decided to use the Woucher. I booked a table and let restaurant know about my Woucher, we had 3 course meal, which was extremely good. We also had a designated waitress who kindly kept us updated about our food, and what is coming next and very attentive. I loved my food, it was clear the Chef was a top Chef at such a restaurant, what Belly of Lamb I had, so tasty, so well roasted outside, and cooked perfectly inside. We also had two glasses of Prosseco with our meal, only if they could be larger glasses, as it was small amount, but in whole, a great delicious dinner.

5/10Awful. Food lacks any flavour! Dined early at 5 so we were the only guests initially and therefore service was fine. We had a buyagift voucher which limited us to the 3-course set menu at £33 and included a glass of Prosecco each. However it is badged as a ‘Michelin meal’ so we had high hopes. We selected some olives and artisan breads at the outset in addition which was a tasteless part baked twisted roll and in no way artisan. Indeed this was the first indication that a lack of any discernible taste or flavour was this restaurant’s speciality! The starters of leek and potato soup and bucatini carbonara were both utterly flavourless, the bucatini was over oily and dominated by salty pancetta. Neither of us finished it. Mains were salmon filet and lentils and corn fed chicken on crushed potatoes which were again completely unseasoned and lacking any flavour whatsoever. It was at this stage that we noticed the large salt and pepper pots staff were attentively checking to ensure they were full on each table. They are clearly a heavily used condiment! Some other guests were now arriving and we noticed all were on the same deal with two glasses of Prosecco arriving at each table. We had ordered a bottle of wine and selected the cheese board which came with an £8 supplement each! It was 3 large pieces of very average cheddar, Brie and a blue cheese. Whilst nicely presented with biscuits, chutney, grapes and celery, the cheese was obviously served straight out of the fridge so was cold and hard including the soft cheese which should melt in the mouth…. Is it that difficult to get the cheese to room temperature before serving!!? Overall this place very much has a last days of Rome feel….a grand hotel located in a crowded market enticing diners in with deals but forgetting to make it in any way an experience that you might want to repeat. I would be disappointed if I cooked this at home. A waste of a night out.

7.5/10We had the 3 course set menu which had good choices but the portions were tiny. The food itself was tasty and well presented but we had to order bread to go with it and we were still hungry when we got home. The portion sizes would have been fine it there were 5 courses but not 3 courses. Wine and service was good.
