3/10Staff were friendly but that’s where the positives end. Food was terrible and overpriced. The duck and pork were both completely overcooked. The starters were tiny and tasteless. If they want to be a college canteen they should charge canteen prices. Overall terrible.

9/10A very enjoyable experience. The food and wine were well presented and served very efficiently. The charges were very reasonable in these times of high inflation. The Staff were friendly and welcoming.

10/10I had the most elevated Bangers and Mash ever. The food was delicious and fairly priced. An excellent choice if you are in Birmingham. We had an amazing cheese plate for dessert that had very interesting local varieties.

7.5/10This is a nicely styled restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and polite serving staff. The food is high quality and its presentation is excellent. The reason why I can't rate it any higher, however, is that its vegetarian options are poor. If you are a vegetarian you have the option of either a 'heritage carrot' as your main, or you can have a salad (which they then seem to expect you to add chicken or prawns to!). If you are not inclined towards a carrot or a salad, you are out of options. It is not difficult to offer some half-decent vegetarian meals in this day and age, so it would be lovely to see this otherwise good venue up its game in this respect.

3.5/10Went for afternoon tea and would not recommend at all. Staff didn't seem to know what was going on, couldn't taste any salmon in sandwiches, no Victoria sponge and was not offered any different types of tea. Overall very disappointing.

9.5/10We really enjoyed our afternoon tea. The staff were really helpful and food was great. There does seem to be an issue with booking afternoon tea through Fork as they were expecting us for a lunch booking. It was quickly sorted at the restaurant end but needs addressing to avoid future issues. That's the reason for losing one mark

10/10Excellent service and the food was really good. My steak was cooked just as I requested it and the atmosphere was really nice.

9/10Food was delicious and the service as excellent. It was almost empty which was a shame and the music was terrible ???? but we enjoyed our meal there!

9.5/10Staff really friendly and helpful. We had an afternoon tea and the Cakes were delicious. Good value so definitely recommend. Plenty of parking available so easy to get to.

5.5/10The hotel is fabulous, but booking a table in the 1900 restaurant to then find out that we actually seated in the very noisy bar area was a shame. Then despite checking in advance and being assured that there were gluten free options, to be told “yeah you can have the sandwiches on gluten free bread”… for an evening meal is very poor these days.

8/10An unusual evening as our booking coincided with the England v France World Cup Quarter Final. Much to my relief there was a projector showing the match in the restaurant. Service was very good, food was also excellent. Would definitely eat there again if we return to the hotel. Would have been even better if England had won!

7/10The chicken katsu, burger and fish and chips were excellent quality and delicious. However the vegan curry was very disappointing with nothing but carrots and broccoli with the rice - no cauliflower, beans or mange touts which are named in the menu. Not really a 'meal' and very poor for the price.

6.5/10Very pleasant setting, and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was perfectly fine and well-presented, and there's a very wide-ranging wine list, but the portions were a bit measly considering the cost, especially the starters. Overall, a good place for a relaxed social gathering, but best not to expect too much of dinner.

2/10You took my booking for the restarant, sent me 3 email confirmations and a reminder text. On arrival, the restaurant had been closed all day and we did not get our meal. Shocking performance from The Fork. Never use you again.

6.5/10Despite getting a phone call the evening before to confirm that we had booked for a cream tea, the staff seemed completely surprised when we turned up, it then took them 45 minutes to even bring us a cup of tea. The food was good quality and there was plenty of it but the level of service was average to poor. We had to ask for our tea to be topped up and then asked 3 times for our bill, despite there being very few customers.

8.5/10Lovely relaxed atmosphere. In terms of food, I had the scallops starter which was simply under seasoned. I can’t remember the last time I had a scallops dish that I had to add salt and pepper to. Very nicely come though. Had the chicken main. Highlights were the chicken skin and the tenderstem broccoli. Both perfectly cooked. The dauphinois potatoes were lovely but again under seasoned. Overall I would go back. Lots of dishes I’d like to try

9/10Had evening meal here twice and both times the party of three all really enjoyed their range of meals - soup, scallops, duck, sea bass, belly pork, ice cream. All three courses were really lovely, can't recommend the 1900 enough.

8.5/10Good service. Food arrived well presented and was very tasty. Couldn’t fault the meal but perhaps a little expensive for ‘pie and mash’ A pleasant dining experience in the bar area

7/10We were greeted wonderfully, The decor and the table area was ready and looked super. However, the quality of the afternoon tea was poor. Sandwiches were dry. Scones were dry. Cakes we’re tasteless. At £29.95 per head very poor value for money.
