7.5/10First time at 42/Holborn for lunch with a friend on the Fork Festival offer, staff were friendly and although the food was good , there were a couple of issues with the order , and the staff apologized and offered us tea/coffee on the house so overall a positive lunch

8/10In terms of food, we ordered a calamari for starters (7/10, batter wasn’t overpowering), the grilled salmon with black caviar (6.5/10), and grilled octopus (8/10, texture was perfect alongside the potato bits). Unfortunately the lamb chops weren’t available on the day. In terms of service, the staff members were nice enough, but it takes them on average 4 minutes to spot us when we wanted water/to order/to get the bill, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t busy. In fact, at one point there were more staff members than customers, so instead of wandering off here and there, I was hoping to get better customer service from the staff. Regardless, they were very helpful in providing recommendations for food. Ambience was perfect as it was the perfect amount of lighting, moderate voice level. Design of restaurant was also pretty.

7.5/10Love the food but the service is slipping. Had to call for attention a few times even though not busy. Lady at front desk said they didn't have ginger beer but I saw it on the drinks menu. Odd! Still good and ambience is great especially with The Fork offer.

6/1050% off discount for 50% off meat as the steak is mostly fat. Not only that but unsalted food, no asking for our sauce and side preference when there were several choices on the menu, starter portions ridiculously small. So, not worth it at all, might be a good restaurant if food quality and portions are improved, since design, style and restaurant ambience are absolutely incredible!

8/10+5Got there 15 mins early and the host asked me if I'd like to make my reservation 15 minutes earlier so I said unless she wanted to kick me out and make me wait outside - I don't think she got the joke as she said if it gets busy we might need the table back! lol never mind. Got a nice table at the back which meant both of us could sit on the sofa. Previously had the padron peppers here to share and this time they seemed much larger than before, nice! I had the salmon tartare starter and salmon main (the waiter recommended the salmon main over the seabass but having had the seabass previously I think that was better to be honest). Didn't like the leaks on top of the salmon, didn't work and the whole thing was a little dry. The tartare was good. We shared sides of broccoli and mushrooms which were good. My friend had burrata, croquettes and ravioli! Guess she was hungry! Was a little less of a vibe than the last time I was there but perhaps we were eating later. Will be back!
