7.5/10Staff friendly and food nice. Did not feel rushed. Great selection of tea - try the fruit salad! However could have offered more food straight off, sharing one stand at the start for three (with the opportunity of course for more for the stand) due to table space I thought was the wrong choice. Two would have been better to feel less awkward, so I would improve that in the future. Thank you for an overall nice experience

9/10Lovely hotel, staff and the food was delicious. We felt so welcomed and enjoyed every dish especially the scones! The choice of the sweets at the end was a memorable touch. Thank you to the kind staff too.

4/10Staff were friendly but when it got busy it was hard to get their attention. The food was very disappointing- everything was too sweet and not enough savoury things. The sandwiches were below average. We were seated outside in the conservatory which was rather dull and not very pretty.

5/10Overall assessment was that is a lovely dining room to take a young girl for tea. The tea itself was lovely, the sandwiches were nice, but the scones and especially the pastries were disappointing - they were all sugar without any flavor. The ambiance was nice, but the service was pretty slow. We were able to get a reservation the night before…and now I know why.

7/10The place is nice in its old traditional fashion. The afternoon tea is good (sandwiches,scones,teas) but the issue comes with the pastries which could be of a better quality. We were not able to finish as it was far too much sugar. It did not taste home-made. Price was a little bit too high for the quality served.

10/10We were concerned because there are so many tea choices in London and you just never know what you’re going to get until you go there. But our family absolutely loved it. Great service. Way too much food! All around 5 star and special.

7.5/10We waited over an hour for our afternoon tea. My daughter was absolutely starving. I assume this was because of an allergy I had which I mentioned upon booking so expected the restaurant to be way more organised. Other than that it was lovely.

7.5/10I have been to the Chesterfield for afternoon tea multiple times. The food has always been excellent and the service, perfect. As I know the standard that they usually offer, I was immensely disappointed by the lack of service I received today. I had to ask 3 times for a pot of tea ( over a 20 min period) and NOBODY came to ask how we were doing. I very nearly refused to pay the service charge. Hugely disappointing

9/10We came to the restaurant for afternoon tea. We were delighted with the mulled wine and hot chocolate shots that were offered upon our arrival. The service was a little slow, as they seemed short staffed. The presentation of the tea sandwiches, pastries and sweets was beautiful and the Christmas tea was delicious.

6/10The food tasted fine, the service was quite good, but the whole experience is very overpriced. I expected the cost to be 47£ and was shocked to get the bill showing 67£. For 4 people, it was certainly not worth it.

2.5/10This was truly awful. Sandwiches - bread was dry and the fillings were flavourless. Scones were ok, but the jam had clearly been sat around for a while as it had a skin on it Pastries - all tasted synthetic Service was very slow And at £130 for two - so so poor value for money

10/10This was a special birthday celebration on our last in the UK. We loved everything, the staff were top notch, the food offering extensive and tasty. We'd love to do it again next time we visit.

10/10I made a reservation for a friend of mine who is in London for the Queen's funeral. Katherine (or Catherine) was so very helpful to me! My friend had a wonderful time and he said he would definitely stay at the Chesterfield each time he is in London.

4/10Overpriced, overcrowded and slow service. £130 for sandwiches and a glass of bubbly for 2 while the table jammed up next to us argued about the allergens on the menu. Next time I’ll pop into Pret.

6.5/10Defintely something special in terms of ambience and wow factor of the food but the service was a bit lacking - felt like we were struggling to get the attention of the team (who were lovely). out food arrived but no drinks (tea). I'm not sure they would have realised if not for us mentioning it which seemed really lacking and poor given it was an afternoon tea service and the price.

10/10Every time I have visited the butlers restaurant, the staff have always been extremely friendly and accommodating. The afternoon tea has always been a delight. Would highly recommend to others if they have not tried.

5.5/10The cooler temperature in the tearoom was welcoming on a warm day and the sight of nearby plants was refreshing. We liked Silver Needle tea but not Dancing Dragon or the fruity tea. The salmon sandwiches and scones were very popular but the names and contents of the pastries which might have appealed to children were off-putting and somewhat silly; some were gooey and messy. The replacement for Coronation chicken sandwiches (one of the reasons for choosing the Chesterfield) was lacking appeal.

4.5/10The scones were cold. We asked to be seated away from others because my 96 year old mother in law was with us and she is Covid vulnerable. We were first to arrive. Two other group came later. They were seated next to us. At least 30 other tables were empty. Nobody else in restaurant.

5.5/10Was a bit surprised that we got a single tier to split between two of us. We had to half each dessert. We were largely overlooked by staff. Scones were tiny and cold. Candy bag at the end was fun since we were headed to a show.

3.5/10£45 for 2 halves of a sandwich, 2 mini scones and inedible pastries was too expensive. The pastries tasted cheap and we could not finish them. The tea was good, but the waiters got confused and mixed up the different teas. There were many of us but the service was not up to par. Overall the experience and price were not worth what we received. The lactose-free menu was better. We would recommend getting it rather than the normal tea.

10/10Lovely traditional cream tea. Sandwiches to start are repleneshed if you ask. Two scones with clotted cream and jam. Selection of cakes. Nice dining room and goody bag of sweets to take home.
