A little over priced, but to be expected at a theme park, the restaurant had surprisingly good food. Outlr children had steak and fish & chips and they both said it was the best dinner they had ever had.
The food was good, sadly the service was not. Being told the 40 minute wait for food was due to us being a ‘big’ table in an almost empty restaurant did not go down well. We arrived 20 minutes early for out 21:00 table and lead straight to the table. The restaurant was at well below half capacity obviously corona reasoning. The bill was split, one of the group complained and was told he would be charged a child’s portion , which he was happy about. They then paid and left. I was not happy when I realised I had in fact been charged the full price for a child portion, ( the child was in my group ). So sad as the food was very nice.
Firstly can I say the menu is completely different from the website and that disappointed us incredibly, as we saw something particular and went for a special occasion, which resulted in us walking out.
Great service, food and atmosphere- thank you for making my daughter’s 16th very special
Was very very disappointed with the service tonight. We were seated in a high traffic area by the kitchen door so constantly had people brushing past our chairs (not great social distancing).. our wait was very long.. The peppercorn sauce was beef gravy with pepper in it.. the rib eye was the grisliest steak I have even seen/tried to eat.. the duck breast main course had only two slices of duck.. the prices were astronomical for what was actually served.. my husbands chips were missing so had to ask for them.. we had no cutlery so had to wait whilst they went to find some.. were not offered more drinks the entire meal... overall appalling for over £100
The restaurant was lovely setting. Staff very welcoming and waitress friendly and attentive. Food was good but not excellent as it has been in previous years - very ‘fatty’. Husband was disappointed with the cod which was all batter no fish and was very greasy.
Most of our food was great but my partner had to return her meal as she ordered the duck rare and it came cooked through and was terribly overcooked but Dom our waiter swiftly corrected the issue and replaced the meal as quick as he could!! Overall the meal was ok but the service was excellent
The tree when go in was amazing. That was about it
The nicest restaurant at Alton Towers.... one kitchen and finer dinning than in the others. Food has always been really good when we have eaten and the kids meals are really good size.
Dinner after fireworks Steak wasn’t as amazing as I’d had from SG a few years ago Sent back and got a fresh one.. but not amazing... quite fatty and grissly- was tok tired to complain. Our waiter robin.. was lovely and attentive - but clearly exhausted after a busy and tricky day. Restaurant is looking tired now.. quite boring and without the ambience of flambos.
I’m afraid we didn’t enjoy our dining experience at The Secret Garden. The staff were lovely, smiling, welcoming and efficient. The food however weren’t. Steak was decent but well over priced, the kids mash and gravy were lumpy, the kids burger was slightly tasteless and the monkfish bhaji was extremely dry. We are not food critics but eaten out enough to know prices and taste.
Being generous, I would describe the food as average. The restaurant itself is nice enough, but Alton Towers clearly take advantage of the fact that you are in their hotel miles from anywhere and so don’t have any real choice of where to eat. The prices are horrendous for the quality of food. Starters were incredibly overpriced- Ed £5 for nachos which consisted at the most 8 chips! My wife and daughter had fish and chips. The chips were ok, but the fish appeared to have been cooked from frozen and was extremely watery and unappetising. My vegetarian burger was ok, but nothing special, and the rest of the party suggested that their food was just about ok. The only thing that wasn’t massively overpriced was the wine, which at £20 for a bottle of house red is about average.
Nice food, nice service nice price
Although food it great and service it’s so overpriced!
Food was great, lots of nice veggie/vegan options. Portions big enough
The food was amazing. Really top draw. Nothing could be faulted with the food or service at our table. The only negative I could find was that on arriving at restaurant we were left waiting about 5 minutes before anyone actually acknowledged us and about 10 members of staff saw and walked past us. However I have to say the food was so good it more than made up for this
.
Restaurant was nice and quiet when we visited so no issues with seating or overcrowding Menu is very limited and over priced but that isn’t a surprise considering it’s alton towers resort where everything is overpriced and limited Staff were very friendly and quickly resolved our issues so overall it was ok
Quick service. Food as you’d expect in a theme park restaurant. Nice enough
Good size portions although a little expensive for the style of food being provided. Service was good although the restaurant was busy it did seem rushed with staff having a few accidents colliding with each other.
