10/10We booked reservation based on proximity to hotel and almost cancelled when we saw location, assuming it would be geared toward tourists. Charming and attentive waitstaff taught us about the food and whiskey as well as culture. Food was outstanding. Highly recommend for the food, service and proximity to the castle.

10/10We went to Amber Restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday and ordered The Taste of Scotland Menu. Amazing food! You can try so many different Scottish, delicious dishes and taste a really good Scottish whisky. Great location , great service and atmosphere ! We would definitely come back there !

Great place to taste the Scottish cuisine, with several options to wander about. Very good service in a place just at the perfect spot for a visit to Edinburgh, in the middle of everything.

7.5/10The food was good, but it should have been served separately and not on the same plate. Some of it were pre cut and dry as a result. The staff was friendly, at the same time we felt like they wanted us out of there as soon as possible. Hence the meal felt a bit rushed. Not a bad experience, but it could have been much better with a little effort.

The way the meal was Cooked; the lamb stovies was impressive , and so the Huggies, juicy and delicious. The mussels were absolutely outstanding with its sauce.

10/10We visit Amber once a year in February. The food is delicious. We tend to always have Haggis and Neeps with whiskey sauce. Then finish with a whiskey that we've never had before.

10/10This is the 3rd year running that we have been up to Edinburgh for a few days for my wife's birthday and the 3rd year we have had a lunch at the Amber Restaurant. The reason we keep returning is that the food, service and overall experience is excellent. We both love the Scottish Tapas. It's a great flavourful plate of food without being too heavy for a lunch. There's always a different whiskey to try along side the Tapas too. This year I got to sample Edardour which I had never had before and which I found to be surprisingly good. We also find the value for money to be excellent too. If the standards are maintained we will certainly keep coming back.

10/10Whenever I am in Edinburgh I come to eat here. Apparently they have noticed, I was remembered in a place that sees quite a few new faces every day. As usual the staff made everything wonderful, delicious food, perfect whisky flight, and a nice chorus of happy birthday. Will see you again next time I'm out. Happy Hogmanay!

6/10I didn’t enjoy the food as much as I expected for a restaurant at that price. The scallops dish was cold and the steak was overcooked. The ambience felt very “touristy”. The service was fast and friendly.
