+1We used the Virgin Experience package, which included a three-course meal with a sparkling cocktail for two. While we were excited about dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant, the experience left us somewhat disappointed.For starters, we had the Bird Seekh Kebab and the Winter Truffle & Chicken Shorba. Both were fine but underwhelming—lacking the complexity and flair we expected from a Michelin-starred establishment. For mains, we chose the Murg Makhani and the Welsh Lamb & Chickpea Masala. While the dishes were good, they lacked the boldness of flavor we were hoping for. They felt somewhat muted and didn’t deliver the standout taste you might expect at this level. The creativity and balance of flavors for our desserts were finally evident, making this the most enjoyable part of the meal. Unfortunately, the drinks were a major letdown. My mocktail was served in a small, underwhelming glass and lacked any real punch of flavor. In hindsight, I would rather pay for the full menu!

The manager Singh was super attentive and I got to meet the Chef! Server Bruna was very welcoming all the people from the hostess to the busboys were on point! Everyone made the experience an exceptional one. The food was perfection. Had the best Deer so tender and delicious and the curry chickpeas were amazing, desert was sinful and delectable. Great selection of wines.

Our visit to Benares was truly special, thanks to the incredible hospitality of Singh. He was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and attentive, going out of his way to make sure we had the best experience. His warmth and genuine care made our evening unforgettable. Our waiter, Gaurav, was also very attentive and provided excellent service. The food was delicious, and the overall experience was fantastic. Highly recommend Benares, and a big thank you to Singh for making our visit so memorable!

8.5/10Table service was great. Shaif was out waiter and very attentive. Starters were great. Main course was nice but not wowing (had the fish and lamb/chick peas on set menu). Ambience was good. Was surprised at the poor standards of the bathroom. Overall had a nice evening.

7.5/10It would be good if the staff can be less arrogant. We are looking for non-spicy food for the kids, the immediate reaction of the staff is “everything is spicy here.” Although at the end they proposed a Mac and Cheese option, we don’t feel this is the service expected for a Michelin restaurant.

Another fine dining experience at Benares which is why we keep coming back. Enjoyed the repartee with the waiting staff who were courteous as well as being charmingly witty - look forward to more fun with them next time. The cottage cheese (Rasmalai) desert was sublime. The Paneer Galouti (goat's milk) was equally delicious although one biscuit with it was not sufficient IMHO. A little more paneer would not go amiss too. Until the next time...is the lobster biriani going to make a comeback?

6.5/10Food is great, however, restaurant is well outdated and requires refurbishment. Service was below the average, not worth the service change that you are billed. Toilets are in terrible condition. Very unpleasant experience. In other words I am surprised that it managed to retain it's Mitchelin Star.

Service was good Food was tasty , however it doesn't feel as special as it should feel for the level they are at and the prices. It was a nice resturant ambience, and food was enjoyable but not much different to a high end indian resturant in say Northwood which has no Michelin stars.

5.5/10Beautiful location, staff is fine but food is not 1 star michelin worth. Quite blend surprisingly and lacking taste except for the chicken tikka massala which was lovely. Prices are too high for quality of the food, overall, disapointing

6.5/10I went to this restaurant as I had been here on previous occasions and it had been a memorable meal. However the standard of both the food and service has dropped. The 3 course special deal, lacked any spices and enhanced flavours in the daal, mushroom and in the Murg Chicken dish especially bland and tasteless. The saving grace was the Amuse Bouche and the starter of the kebab as these were both tasty and the coriander side sauce enhanced the flavour When I had been here before what elevated Benares was the seasoning and flavours of the sauces, this was sadly lacking on this occasion and made the experience frankly disappointing for me. The ambience was good.

6.5/10Went for the set menu, which was okah value for money but wouldn’t go as far to say it was worthy of a Michelin star. When asked if the menu could be explained was told by the restaurant manger that the set menu was straight forward and what was there to explain. I found that quite rude and extremely uncalled for given it’s a generic question at any restaurant and the menu wasn’t as straight to someone that doesn’t speak Hindi. Found the 15% service charge ridiculous given the waiters service were average and was never asked if we needed more food or drinks along with how rude the restaurant manager was, I’m not sure what I was paying for. Overall the food was okay, decor tired and staff service average. I can’t say I would recommend this restaurant or will be rushing back anytime soon.

7.5/10Food was good. Service good too. I asked about pricing and they told me it was 85 pounds for the whole table and then they told me at the bill that it was per person. They completely caught me off guard and I don't appreciate that. I won't be coming back here just because of that.

6/10Food was good enough and a lovely setting. Unfortunately, the hostess was very rude. I made a reservation for 1 as I was visiting London by myself on business. A few days before the date of my meal, I got a message saying my reservation for 1 had been changed to a table for 6. I replied to the email saying that I did not make this change and I would be coming in by myself. Bernard’s did not reply Yet when I arrived the hostess insisted that I had changed my reservation to 6, and showed me how it said 6 on her computer screen. I showed her my emails, but she continued arguing with me saying I must have called and changed the reservation. This went on for quite a bit. Really disappointed with how I was treated

Our second time at this restaurant celebrating a special occasion. Both times the food was lovely, staff are top class and the restaurant itself is spacious and moderately busy. Highly recommend:)

6.5/10The service was pretty disappointing. A elderly gentleman who took our order was rude and rushing us. We were celebrating my friend’s 40th birthday, so we requested to bring a candle and a cake but request was not fulfilled. On top of that they made us leave right before midnight (without informing us the close time of restaurant). Food was decent. Overall, for the amount of money one pays, the experience is substandard.
