I recently dined at Benihana Chelsea after hearing so much about it and had quite high expectations. Starting with the positives, the ambiance was impressive—, the lobby is a comfortable and great spot to wait while your table is prepared. The overall setup is cool and service is great. However, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. The quality was disappointingly average for the price, and the portion sizes felt small. I ordered the medium-rare steak, but unfortunately, it was quite chewy. Considering the cost, I was hoping for a much higher standard. One important detail to watch for is that the prices listed don’t include the service charge, so you’ll need to factor that in when budgeting.

Tasteless food in a loud and smelly, greasy environment with minimal extraction. Packed with birthday groups hoping for excitement from the chefs tricks. Good for kids and teenagers. Painful for the rest.
