Betty’s was designed to feel like a ship and we could have been on the Titanic. There was a pianist serenading guests with a combination of Christmas tunes and classics creating a relaxing yet joyous environment. The wait staff were polite and friendly. The afternoon tea was a set menu and, at £40pp, not cheap, but it was very tasty and overall a very enjoyable experience.

We had late afternoon tea booked and could not have been more pleased with our experience. The food was lovely, the staff were charming and efficient, and the restaurant went above and beyond accommodating the food allergies of one of our party. Very highly recommend, and only wish we lived closer to York so that we could go back more frequently!

Our server Leo was very attentive and friendly. It's rare to find afternoon teas that offer the sandwich/tea refills complimentary but it makes such a big difference! The only minor inconveniences were a loud Air-con fan near us but that was moved quickly and rectified, and the fact it was our anniversary but this was not acknowledged. A lovely ambience and pianist to go with what was a delicious meal. Sweet treats were delicious.

We thought the ambience and decor were really lovely, as was the piano music, although my companion thought it was a little loud, which made it difficult to have a conversation. My main gripe was that the waiter who served our tea we told us it was replenishable but no mention was made of the sandwiches or cakes being replenishable. We therefore deduced that we would not get second helpings of those. The sandwiches were delicious, however, as were the cakes. When a waitress asked us, towards the end of our visit, if everything was OK, I said it was but added that as we only had 4 finger sandwiches each, we were still somewhat hungry. She then told us we could have some more on the house, as it were but, unfortunately, we'd already eaten the cakes and neither of us fancied eating savoury items after eating sweet ones. We were therefore somewhat disappointed, hence my review. Otherwise, the staff were really attentive and polite.

We booked our table for 4 and arrived to find a lovely room with well spaced tables in a wonderful room. The service was second to none and we chose our afternoon tea. We were pleased to find that all were catered for and most things could be replenished if necessary. The only complaint we had was that the pianist was so loud we had a job to hear the waiter and ourselves talking. Will probably visit again in the future.

Nine of us, good school friends met for High Tea at Betty’s and had the most wonderful afternoon. The service was excellent from all the staff. The was delicious and we all enjoyed ourselves.

met up with friends i’d not seen for decades. Betty’s service was wonderful, accommodating an extra place, refilling the sandwiches and letting us stay on chattering without appearing to want us gone. The tea choice was extensive and flowing. Live piano music was fun.

It was nice but I thought very expensive for what it was and didn’t provide value for money - I personally think the price should be more around circa £25 each- we were told that it was a refillable supply of sandwiches but i let we were made to feel awkward when we requested more sandwiches- also my wife didn’t like the Lemon scones and when we requested more of the normal scones we were told it will see if I can find one - and the waiter came back with just one as though he had done us a favor ? Overall service was friendly and good actually - but left a big gap regard value for money and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it or revisit it again I also thought the deserts were stale and not very inviting, would have been better with cream eclairs or Victoria sponge or some other options - overall the servings seemed ‘tight’ and not plentiful

Booked afternoon tea for 5 to celebrate my 92 year old mother-in-law’s birthday. She loved the whole experience. Excellent service from the young man looking after our table and food was of a high standard as always at Bettys. The piano playing was a nice touch and added to the ambience of a lovely afternoon.

Hi. I came with friends on Sunday. Been many times before in the Belmont Room. The other two ladies I was with hadn’t been before. Really nice as usual, although sandwiches weren’t as good as my previous two visits and not presented as good either. My friend took her birthday cake treat home with her. Usually Happy Birthday is played but not on this occasion .Also, it felt really rushed. However, Would not stop me visiting again in the future. But non the less a little disappointed.
