Lovely food well presented by attentive, but not overly so, staff. So, very good restaurant but the Fork booking system all over the place so ended up phoning direct to get table booked. We would highly recommend this place based on our experience.

We booked for March 10th, which was Mothers day, although we were a group of 7 celebrating a birthday. The food and service were excellent, especially the buffet bar for the starter. The only annoyance was that after looking online at the Sunday lunchtime menu before we booked, when we checked the booking the evening before we arrived, we found out there was only a special Mother's Day menu, which was the same food offering, but more expensive. That wasn't made clear when we booked.

Access is not obvious and difficult to negotiate with lots of steps. (We are 80). Welcome was OK except despite reservation having been reconfirmed as late as 11 25 am for a 12 30 lunch, the receptionist in the bistro said we did not have a table reserved. Table service was pleasant but a little slow. Food quality was good but we had to ask for the "menu fixe". I would go back but it is fr from my first choice in the area.

Wonderful restaurant. Food & service top notch. Fully recommended. But note (despite the “du Vin” warning), still a bit surprising that if you wanted to start with a cocktail, it required a walk to the bar, and if you wanted a good beer…well, too bad - you’re out of luck - and in the former Brakespeare brewery!
