6.5/10Unfortunately the 'roast' chicken with chorizo and butter bean sauce was tough & overcooked. It was obvious that the chicken had been cooked a day or two before and simply reheated. The green beans were undercooked and only blanched. This was very disappointing particularly as Browns has always delivered good brasserie dishes. My wife's cod was just about ok. The waiter was very apologetic about the two dishes that were below average and deleted them from the bill. Service was good although a bit slow as the restaurant filled up quickly at 12h00.

5.5/10Greeted at the desk to be told we hadn’t booked afternoon tea, even though booking through afternoon tea.com and asking for it. Then watched a barman filling the sugar bowls (cubes) with his hands 🙁

5/10We ordered steak medium to well it was cooked medium rare the manager and waiter totally agreed with us ,sent food back and returned still medium rare the manager agreed, and he couldn’t stop apologising told him it’s not his fault also asked him have you got a trainee chef today he said no. Visited numerous Browns restaurants all round the country not had this problem before I have lost confidence in Browns and won’t be visiting again. The Manager was great took service charge off and we had 2 free deserts but this special occasion was a disaster. A fully qualified chef would not present food this way.

9/10Went after theatre for anniversary. Given nice corner seat, staff very good. Anniversary desert plate was lovely thought. Food was good but had to return mine (cold). New steak and fries a bit overdone but OK. My wife's food was perfect though.

8/10Arrived a little early but couldn't get seated early - so went to the bar. Bar was a bit busy. Overall experience was good. Varied menu, good atmosphere and really nice food and pretty good service. Would definitely go back.

5.5/10Had to wait 10 minutes for our previously-booked table to become vacant. The two water glasses had lipstick marks on them- not a good start. My friend has a dairy allergy and fortunately the menu did not detail the ingredients for people with unusual allergies. Waiter very helpful and eventually an individually pan fried piece of cod was cooked for my friend - however it and the veggies were swamped in cooking oil with didn’t look appealing to me and wasn’t particularly appetising either. After all this it was appreciated that my friend’s bill was reduced. Such a disappointment as my previous experiences of Browns, both the Covent Garden one, plus Oxford and Cambridge have been such positive experiences.

7/10They were extremely busy. The service was good. It did seem strange. It wasn't possible to order one extra potato dish without garlic. The main courses on the whole. Were very good, but sadly, 2 of them were cold. Having said this, I would definitely go back. I think it was just a very busy day.

8/10It was Saturday 23rd Nov so it was very busy. We had a 18:30 reservation and arrived early so went to the bar. The biggest issue was the lack of space in a busy bar area and we ended up propping against the counter where the coffees are made. This was fine but just a bit congested. I would not have liked to have been seated at the tables in this area and this is the only reason I gave 4 starts. Minor point to some and probably busy because of time of year and day. Otherwise the food was very nice. I had prawn cocktail and fish pie and my wife had crab and avocado on sourdough and fish pie. All excellent. Service was attentive although our mains arrived before our starters had been cleared. Would definitely be back as nothing really spoiled the evening

10/10Meeting up for lunch and catch-up with an old friend, we were so pleased to have chosen Brown's. We ate from the lunch menu, which was excellent. Full praise to all the staff who were so helpful, courteous and very efficient. Special thanks to Anna who managed our table (and us!) with her kind attention and top grade professional skills; she's a gem!

7/10Before booking I enquired about dietary requirements and after a few emails I went ahead and ordered an afternoon tea. When we got to Browns we were well impressed with the setting and the staff was very efficient and attentive. Because of the dietary requirements we were left waiting and twice I was approached by staff members enquiring about it, it was like they never knew about it and I just walked in and told them. Once we got our food, the sandwiches were very bland and dry, it tasted like they were made and left out to dry for a few hours. Some items did get swapped, others missed out as there was no replacement even though I was assured prior to booking by the reservation/sales team that it would be. My companion thought her sandwiches were dry too and the quantity and quality was not equivalent to the price of the afternoon tea. We were on a day out and tried to make the most of it.

8.5/10Really lively restaurant, fun atmosphere. Theatre set menu gave a good selection, food well presented and very tasty, only disappointment, were for those that chose the prawn cocktail, these were still very wet from being defrosted. Friendly waiter, although a little slow on occasion and required reminding. Overall a great experience and definitely visit again.

4/10This was an unpleasant experience from the moment we walked in. We arrived exactly on time at 3:46 the our res was for. The hostess was helping another customer and while she worked to help that customer we were never acknowledged as we stood and waited to be acknowledged and seated. It was over almost :15 before the hostess finally acknowledged us and seated us. As she led us to our table she told us the policy for afternoon tea a time limit of 1.5hrs. Which was perfect for us bc we had plans and needed to leave in that time. We had a very nice server who took our order finally after :30 minutes at our table. We had been there :45 and still had not received our tea or food. When did arrive, at about 4:40. it was displayed nicely but was very average. The tea sandwiches were all on the same kind of bread and were quite boring. We finished a few of the items and at 5:15 we had to leave. We asked for check and box for our remaining tea items, we were told we should have told we would not be allowed to take our leftover food. I told the server not our original server, that we had waited over an hour before we were served anything and were not told that so he very kindly accommodated us with boxes. Really terrible experience with the exception of our servers. The absolutely only good thing about it was an excellent champagne option to add to the tea for £10. I would never return nor would I recommend this place. Very disappointing as I had been to Brown's in Bath and had a wonderful experience.
