6/10Having been shown to our table, a waitress handed us 2 a la carte menus. I asked for the menus for the fixed price lunch which had been advertised on the restaurant’s website when I had booked the table, but the waitress said that this particular branch of Brown’s (Cardinal Place, Victoria) didn’t offer the fixed price menu. I then noticed that the fixed price option was advertised in a booklet on the table so asked to see the manager. The manager, who was very pleasant, came back with copies of the fixed price menu but then proceeded to explain that virtually none of the fixed price dishes was available! As a result, we ended up choosing from the a la carte menu (which was obviously more expensive!). I felt cheated by the fact that the fixed price menu is clearly advertised and offered on the restaurant’s website but is, effectively, not available! Unfortunately, this was our first visit to Brown’s and we shall not be rushing back there any time soon!

9.5/10A great lunch watching the Christmas lights come on. Delicious food and a subtle waiter who was very efficient and looked after us brilliantly. Very festive venue and we will be back!

6/10The service was slow. The food was over cooked. The egg was fully burnt underneath, the chips were overcooked, the chicken schnitzel was nearly overcooked. The toilets were not kept well, locks broken and not the best looking toilets. The ambience I found was different to all the other Browns I have been too not as good as the other ones.

7.5/10A well located venue with good, prompt service and great menu. Have been here before and will be coming back next time I'm in the area. Our waiter was helpful, polite and friendly.

10/10Brown’s restaurant is situated in an excellent location. The service was excellent and individual requests were accommodated. The non-alcoholic option in respect of drinks was an added bonus!

5/10We had eaten in Browns a number of times before and had already found it good. However today having chosen the Sunday roast, we thought the meal poor. The main problem was it was not hot and the quality of veg not great.

10/10We had a lovely Coronation day Saturady lunch at Browns in Victoria. There was a small mix up at first as I had booked for a party of 6 people, the 3 Course set menu for £19.50ish, through The Fork. However when we arrived, although the restaurant was expecting us, we were informed that the set menu was only available Monday to Fridays. We spoke to the manager and he was very helpful and gave us the set menu. He dealt with the situation very nicely and we had a really nice experience. The food especially the chicken and leek pie, was great and the staff were all very friendly . I would highly recommend this place. Thank you

5.5/10The staff and space good; the food left us both feeling sick. Won't go back there; reached for crystallised ginger to calm upset stomach. Truly very poor food.

8/10I think it would be nice to have more meals with vegetable options. And the seats are incredibly uncomfortable and would certainly recommend changing these if you decide to refurbish this one. Our waiter on this evening was excellent and so nice as it was my birthday

6.5/10Oddly, the front doors are closed, meaning walking to another set and then walking all the way back through the restaurant to a 'front desk'. Not the greatest hassle, just odd. Greated nicely but couldn't find our reservation. Anyway, took us to a suitable table. Wish they'd taken our drinks order once seated though. Time ticked, took order and we received our drinks promptly. Food took too long and all our mains arrived safely but no starters! Fortunately, they were kids meals with garlic bread which could be eaten with the mains. Sausages on kids meal were cheap and ropey. All other meals okay, not brilliant for the price. Expect more from Browns.

7.5/10It was a busy lunch but we had to call for service at a every point. No waiters ever came to see if we were ok or ready to order. Starters arrived after an hour of being there and mains at 90 minutes. The food was nicely presented but if you are on a schedule, I wouldn’t risk it.

9.5/10Very busy with Christmas parties, so loud and noisy - but a good atmosphere. The servers were excellent. We groaned when we walked in because it was so busy and we thought we would have to wait an age for food, but it all flowed really well - no long waits, but not rushed either. Food was also incredibly good - it was really fresh, beautifully cooked. and very tasty - best prawn/crab linguine I've ever had ! All in all a great experience

2/10I cannot express more strongly our extreme disappointment to find the kitchens of this restaurant closed when we arrived to celebrate a particularly significant birthday. On this basis we cannot trust The Fork for bookings

7/10The service was amazing but I ordered the prawn and crab pasta and I didn’t see any crab and it was very very oily. My friend ordered a ribeye and it was the worst looking ribeye I have ever seen. Absorber friend ordered cod and that was very very good. Drinks were amazing.

7/10Service was a bit hot and cold. Food though was hot and tasty, served in good time. Lots of young children near us being noisy, but always a gamble. Location and price always a winner.

10/10So nice to be out and all staff were so welcoming, especially our lovely server who was from Crete..clearly home sick but smiley and could not do enough for us. Great place to meet and enjoy food and wine...fab burger!
