9.5/10Caravaggio's is a stylish modern Italian restaurant, with a City of London rather than a family clientele. The food is excellent, particularly for the price, which I thought surprisingly reasonable for the area (2 course lunch, £22). They cater for the gluten-intolerant, like me,

8.5/10I booked this restaurant a few times as our office is just a few yards away. The general feedback was that the food was delicious, and the ambience was pretty good, but the service needed some improvement. We will definitely go back but expect an improvement in this area :)

7/10Good service but the steak was not very good at all and neither were the sides. Tiramisu at the end was reasonably delicious.

Thank you for your visit. It is a pity that nothing was mentioned on the night and not much was left in the plates when we cleared the table. We could have had the chance to rectify anything that you did find not to your liking, given the chance if there was an issue.

8.5/10The food was lovely but the service a bit hot and miss. Waited 25 minutes for bread and olives

Thank you for your visit and glad you enjoyed your food. Apology for the above mentioned, somehow your order for those items was not processed straight away even though 25 minutes seams excessive as by than you would have had your starters.

5.5/10Nice service, but food was average and very expensive. Left feeling hungry

Thank you for your visit. Looking at your bill you shared a starter (burrata) and you had the Ravioli with short rib filling and your companion the Maltagliati pasta with a kale pesto and than shared a tiramisu. The pasta portions are a generous portions and being fresh egg pasta are filling by nature but the fact that you only shared a burrata as starter and shared a dessert possibly did not manage to satisfy your hunger. The menu is designed for a diner to experience a meal in full and the dishes are not thought like sharing platters but individual portions.

10/10I really enjoyed the dinner. The service was exceptionally good! The onion soup is delicious. The beef is of great portion. The apple crumble with vanilla ice cream is mouth-watering.

9.5/10Elegant and reliable, both for a business meal or as in this case a catch up dinner with family. Thoroughly enjoyable, menu varied but not dispersive, decent wine list at acceptable prices (for the city of London, at least). Very good experience, recommended.

9.5/10This was a great restaurant and the service was outstanding. I arrived early and the bar staff were very attentive and polite. When my party of 5 others arrived we also had a few drinks at the bar before a wonderful meal largely based on the recommendations of the waitress, and the food didn't disappoint. Good portions and great desserts. An evening well spent

9.5/10My friend and I had lunch here for the second time. The 3 course menu and service were absolutely amazing. Our only suggestion would be to use less sugar on the pear tart as it seems the recipe was different from last time. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy it that much. Certainly, I will recommend and come back again. Thank you to the team.

Thank you for your comments and we are glad you both enjoyed your lunch. The pear tart you had today was a Pear Tarte Tatin which is cooked upside down in butter and sugar as it needs to be caramelized in its process of cooking therefore it is not possible to use less sugar for the nature of the recipe. I think you may have enjoyed a pear and almond tart the last time you visited which is a completely different type of dessert and yes it does have less sugar content compared to the Tarte Tatin

Created in homage to a key genius of the Italian Renaissance, Caravaggio is dedicated to gastronomic excellence, aiming to demonstrate the same dedication to quality and innovation in the field of food and drink as the great Italian masters brought to painting and sculpture. Caravaggio is one of the city's most well established fine dining restaurants, offering superb modern Italian cuisine in elegant art deco surroundings.rnrnFormally opened by Luciano Pavarotti in 1996, Caravaggio is the most serious Italian restaurant in the City and a firm favourite with the movers and shakers of the square mile, many of whom are regular customers. Occupying the imposing premises of what was formerly a banking hall, all that remains of the original interior is the ornate high ceiling, with its splendid Art Deco light fittings. The designer Tony Thomas has opened up the space and extended an existing gallery that now runs around the room at mezzanine level, providing a second tier of tables.A long, marble topped bar by the entrance provides a convenient holding area for what is, at lunch times, a very busy dining room and is also popular with single diners, many of whom prefer to eat at the bar.
