MICHELIN Guide's Point Of View

The Lanesborough hotel’s sumptuously decorated and unapologetically formal restaurant is somewhere fit for a celebration. Beautiful Wedgwood friezes ...

I felt overwhelmed with joy to be able to dine at Celeste after many months of lockdowns. The Lanesborough is a glorious hotel with the most welcoming team of professionals. The cuisine is off the scale delicious and there are always little surprises with complimentary canapés and petite fours. Utter heaven and a gastronomic delight.

Two days after lockdown lifted and the service team were struggling to deliver good service. This can be best summed up by a gentleman at an adjacent table who said ‘over an hour waiting for the fish and I ate it in 4 minutes’. The food when it arrived was good but warm not hot - not the first time this has happened to me in a Michelin starred restaurant. Lovely dining room but somewhat soulless. Same could be applied to the staff - maybe they were tired. Good piano singer. I enjoyed the overpriced wine that i selected though i did have to wade through 50 pages of the wine list much to the annoyance of my wife.

Long wait time Meat was mediocre and I wasn’t even asked how I want my fillet. It was assumed by the chef Service was awful, main course finished plates weren’t removed before handing over the dessert menu. Had to ask to remove empty plates of the main course. At the end I asked to remove the service charge and I wasn’t even asked by the restaurant as to what was failing in their service. They just didn’t seem to care. Really not expected by a Michelin star The only good thing was the ambiance

We had a delicious lunch at The Celeste this afternoon. Our waitress, Marta was friendly, efficient and knowledgable and the service of all the staff were excellent as was the food.

Beautiful setting, service was sub par for a michelin star though. The food was delicious. I have to type some more to reach 120 characters which is the minimum for the review, seems excessive...

A beautiful hotel in Britain’s most prestigious address code area. Belgravia iconic in its resplendent grandeur is as much regal as the great philosopher and poet revered. Vandora. Bhuller. Belgravia. England. Britain.

The restaurant was fairly empty when we dined here on Sunday evening and unfortunately it's not hard to see why. We went for the set menu (£49 for three courses) that were meagre in portion size as well as poorly executed. The turkey pie was far too salty, the desserts far too sweet. The best thing about the meal was probably the bread, and even then it came with stone-cold butter. Will not dine here again sadly, as we felt it completely undeserving of a Michelin star and the price point.
