8/10We went as a 13th birthday celebration for our granddaughters, it wasn’t something I would go to as an adult, ( though lots did) but the girls loved it.

8/10Nice afternoon tea but overpriced for what you get, especially when they add a 15% service charge to the bill. £7 for a bottle of water, £20 for a single glass (2/3 full) of house champagne is excessive.

10/10This place and its staff are amazing! We went to this tea and the tea at the Sofitel Hotel. This one blew the Sofitel out of the water. This should definitely not be missed!

6/10We had no idea where our servers were. It was 20-30 minutes at minimum between courses when we would see them. For the price we paid they should be far more attentive. We were sorry we asked for more sandwiches at the beginning because it dragged tea time out by probably 40 minutes. When you are there with little kids, sitting at a table for 2+ hours is tough and you want things to keep moving.

8.5/10Took my granddaughter for her birthday. She loved it. She was looking at the menu to see what to pick and was absolutely delighted when I told her she was having everything! She was given a ‘happy. Birthday’ cake with a candle which was a lovely touch.

4/10I don’t understand why this place has received such positive comments, as it’s essentially a tourist trap. The kids’ menu is £50 for white bread sandwiches and very sweet (though beautifully presented) desserts. There’s hardly anything reminiscent of a ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ experience. Only the scones were nice and warm. On a positive note, the service was good. Overall, it’s not worth the money.

7.5/10The sandwiches were lovely, the scones melted in my mouth and the cakes were gorgeous. Was not offered a refresh of tea or a new selection as was told. Tea was cold by the end of the tea. Bottle of water is £7. Was not offered tap water. The waiter explained what all the food was which was good. The ambience was not great. It was downstairs and not appropriate for such an expensive tea. No music or Charlie decorations which would have made a better experience

4.5/10We waited about 25 minutes after being seated, to receive an offer of a drink. The staff were very nice people and polite but the service did fall short. Not sure if it was lack of organisation. Expectations were high given for an adult afternoon tea you pay £70 and £50 for a child, I’ve done many in London but this was not worth that price, nowhere near! Ok it had a bit of dry ice with a cocktail but everything else in terms of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was quite unremarkable, plain, dull and nothing particularly magical or fun. Adult variation of the sandwich was super small too. Not a great choice of teas. Sorry OneAldwych, it really was a let down but, the staff were lovely and tried hard but this is super expensive for what it was.

9.5/10My family and I had a wonderful time. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The food and presentation was perfect. I only wish the room had looked more like a chocolate factory and some of the staff were dressed as “Umpa Lumpas” Every other way it was top notch.

10/10The experience was excellent and the service was fantastic. I would say this is more geared for younger kids. I also thought it was overpriced, but I knew what I was going into. I thought it was a lot of fun and I have to point out that our waiter was fantastic. Very attentive and he was a joy.

8.5/10This was my first High tea experience and your lady Martina was just amazing and so was my waiter . Only sad part of the experience was the decor , thought it was going to be like inside the Charlie chocolate factory . Entrance was a little wow and sadly walking downstairs was sad, food was absolutely delicious , the little salmon pastry with the dill , can’t stop thinking bout that . Sweet set up was gorgeous .

8/10+2Fun place to go with good finger sandwiches and an overload of fantastic desserts. If you like sweets and desserts, this is the tea for you! I did feel like the waiter made it a little confusing at the beginning, but then was great about bringing us all of the courses and offering us more of anything we wanted. Overall it was a very good experience. This makes people who are uncomfortable with the stuffiness of high tea much more comfortable in a more fun setting. I would recommend it.

4.5/10This was the most underwhelming themed/inspired afternoon tea. Other than some props at the entrance and pictures in the toilet there was nothing spectacular relating to Charlie and Chocolate factory in the actual dining area, a few bubbles on the pillars. The food was served as courses 4 finger sandwiches, followed by scones and then some sweat treats with the candy floss being the most child friendly option, the other sweets were very adult themed. There was classical music being played, waiting staff in formal uniform. My daughter was expecting a sweet cart, some characters, photo opportunities. Totally upselling on a themed afternoon tea especially for children. Definitely wouldn’t recommend and the Maitre D’ was in agreement with my feedback and offered my daughter a large lolly as compensation for our disappointment!!!!!

8/10We went for the Festive Afternoon Tea which was quite a hefty price tag as I'm sure you can imagine, which naturally means my expectations will be just as high. Considering this is a licenced Charlie & The Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea experience, I would've expected more theatratics, music, dry ice, something along those lines. Although there were festive decorations like the tree, I feel more could've been done to justify the price, like waiting staff breaking out into an impromptu Oompah Loompah song or something. I also realise not everyone can sing or would've welcomed that, maybe penny whistles or flutes or something- just a thought. We were seated on a table with a pillar on it as well, which was quite annoying as this obscured the view/ ambience as we were celebrating a special occasion. Having noted these, the service started off as excellent & personable, however waning off slowly, but the explanations about the culinary magic that arrives on the plates in front you cannot be faulted. And the team did bring out a little chocolate Congratulations cake for our celebration, which was lovely & throughtful. The Chef team have worked incredibly hard to conceptualise & create a menu where flavours, expertise & presentation combine to make this a truly scrumptious treat if you're looking for something different by way of an Afternoon Tea that nods to the creations Roald Dahl magicked up & shared with the world. Definitely book if you're a fan.
