10/10Food was amazing, portion size is good, service was prompt and pleasant. They don’t play loud music which is a huge plus these days. Special mentions to banana flower croquettes it was very tasty with the mustard sauce. Calcutta fish fry is also must try. Their India bread basket had 3 different types of bread and I have to say they were one of the best ones I had in London. Chicken chaap is great combo for the breads. I highly recommended this restaurant if you like authentic Bengali food.

To start with, I am a Bengali born and raised in Kolkata, so, my critique of our experience in Chouranghi is through that lens. We went for a celebratory birthday meal. Food … Banana Flower fritters were awesome. 9.5 out of 10. We also ordered Kolkata Fish Fry. It was okay, but not really “from Kolkata”… Sea Bass is never the right fish for an authentic fish fry, drier. But low on aromatics and seasoning as well. Chef could have tried barramundi. :-) 7 out of 10. We are light eaters, so ordered rice, a vegetable and a protein to share between two. The aubergine with mango and mustard. Unfortunately, that was literally a sweet dish. Far cry from anything I experienced while living in Kolkata. It’s a 3.5 out of 10. Prawn Malaikari was good though. Little low on seasoning apart from extra sweetness. Prawns were a bit overcooked though. But, I won’t complain much. It was 8/10. Lyangcha Rabri - 8/10, Baked Rosogolla - 7/10. Perhaps my expectations were different given the hype.

9/10Our dining experience was very good from the start to the end. Waiters were very polite, and they really knew details about food. And the food itself was so good, hands up for that. Some of our dishes were a bit spicy, but that was expected, and only in a good way. Overall, we were totally happy in our experience, and we will come back again.

+4Went here to celebrate a birthday.. it was a nice experience. Ambience and food were great. Highly recommend the Lotus stem chaat, paneer kofta, bappa dohi and chilli coriander roti (which was not on the menu but you can ask them to make it). The dal makhani was okay, not as spectacular as the rest of the food. Overall, it was a great experience.. the only short coming was that we discovered that the papad was fried in the same oil as the fish, after already eating some of it. I didn’t appreciate that, and was very surprised to see this level of cross contamination here. Hope they can change this.

10/10We were a large group of 11 booking at short notice, so we’re extremely happy that we could be accommodated. The manager made us feel very welcome and rearranged tables so we could all sit together. The restaurant was busy with a nice atmosphere and the smells from the kitchen were incredible so we felt confident we’d have a great meal. The food was incredible, very tasty, good portions and a varied choice for all tastes. Service was excellent all night and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Would highly recommended Chourangi and hope to visit again when next in London.

8.5/10The ambience is lovely and so is the service. While the menu has some delicious authentic items, all the items are a bit too over spiced and hence a meal always ends up being too heavy. Menu conspicuously missing some of the more delicate/vegetarian items that are staples of Bengali cuisine. Would love some simpler dishes which are more about subtle flavours than frying or spice

A delicious dinner! My parents are usually very fussy about food, but we were all very impressed by the food at Chourangi. Authentic Bengali flavours with some new, innovative twists. Would definitely recommend!

10/10This was a great experience. The ambiance was modern Indian. The menu offered a varied range if dishes and prices. Service was very friendly and professional. When the food arrived it had extremely good flavour but su the and not over-powering. I opted for the banana flower croquet as a thing to try. I cannot fully describe the full range of flavours but there were sweet, cinnamon and other flavours in a crunch outer casing. The Lamb and Chicken curries were great. I will try to go again next time we are near Marble Arch. Outstanding in all aspects

10/10Absolutely PHENOMENAL Indian food!! We travel to London, for business, almost weekly, and this is become our solid go to place! Highly recommend this restaurant as the food is just amazing! The delicate balance of spices and flavor, along with a perfect variety in the menu options, make this a terrific choice if you enjoy Indian cuisine. The staff is always so welcoming and accommodating! As we have become almost regular customers, they all go out of their way to say hello and take wonderful care during our visit.????

2/10Starting from host at the entrance, who couldn’t find the reservation and then had to pint out that I only booked it 11 mins ago, didn’t realise that is a problem. Then they made a huge fuss about the baby buggie and made us feel very uncomfortable about it. We didn’t feel welcome at all specially with a buggie, if children are not welcome then maybe say it is an adults only restaurant. Also please retrain your staff to be more accommodating and not be discriminatory. I truly didn’t feel welcomed and the service was not great, the food was average, I am Bengali myself. I was truly disappointed the way we were treated. I will definitely not go back to this restaurant and wouldn’t recommend Thai to anyone especially if you have children under 4yrs or likely myself who has nephews. Truly an awful experience. Moreover it did not a cheap restaurant, if you are going to provide a service like the street food places in India then maybe mention that in your website.

8/10We booked Chourangi through Fork a table for two from 12pm but the restaurant didn’t open until 12.30 and this didn’t show on Fork. Next time I will book through a different platform. The service was good the food was good. We had to wait for the food around 40 minutes but we didn’t mind. The atmosphere is always nice in Chourangi.

10/10Very welcoming and friendly staff. The menu is diverse and there were so many great choices. The Calcutta briyani was awesome. We also had the Mango Mustard Aubergine, the Hing Aloo Dum, the Prawn cutlets and the Tiger Prawn Tandoori, each of which was a memorable dish. The ambience is classy and comfortable. All in all, an excellent authentic Indian restaurant with great service.

We ordered 4 starters, 4 mains and two desserts. Amongst the starters, the banana flower and prawn cutlet were good; but the fish fry was flavourless and the packets were dry and very coarse - not worth the money. In terms of mains, the makai curry was average, so was the biryani. Definitely avoid the elish - it had a plethora of bones despite being advertised as otherwise and the kosha lamb was far from what bengalis know it to be. In terms of dessert, we had doi, which was good; and baked rasgulla - which was more of a rasmalai, but worse.

10/10Such a great restaurant. Being from Kolkata it was lovely to find traditional food cooked so well. Had two food connoisseurs who both thought the food was excellent too. Great wine list too. Service was impeccable - even when a tray of drinks were accidentally spilt nearby.
