Hearty, well cooked dishes in a quiet hotel restaurant, the beef bourguignon being particularly good. Restaurant staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Price-wise, it offered reasonable value. There is also a pub in the hotel grounds for a pre-meal drink in a more lively environment.

We visited the restaurant some time ago and really enjoyed the ambience, the menu and the staff interaction. Unfortunately our recent visit was very different, which was embarrassing for us as we had visited with friends and highly recommended the restaurant. The menu was very limited and was so overpriced. The staff were reliable on the whole but the manager was quite rude and confrontational, which was not expected. All in all, very disappointing, have no intention to return and would probably avoid Fork establishments in the future.

Excellent value for money. We had a Groupon voucher which limited the choice but the portion size and quality was excellent. Can definitely recommend the fish and chips!! Excellent service also

We were given a menu for £30 afternoon tea which we were expecting, then this was taken away and a £35 menu with Prosecco was given to us which we did not want. The service was very slow although there was hardly anyone in. The food was ok but I’ve had better for much less money. The music kept turning on and off and no one came to offer us more tea

The restaurant was nice, but on the chilly side, definitely could’ve been cosier. The menu was varied and it was nice that they served local produce. When the food arrived, it was piping hot and tasty. Would like to mention Patrick who attended to us, he was super friendly and attentive, a real asset to the team

The Sunday lunch food has clearly been scaled back as a cost saving exercise. This is a shame - it used to be lovely and was a regular choice for us as a family.

I will try to be fair here but unfortunately they had a disastrous night for not just all, but quite a few of the other customers. Only 6 of us in the restaurant when we first turned up. No questions re allergies, no real customer service and seated in a booth, so seemed to be forgotten about. Had to request a drinks menu and then wait 30 mins for some tap water. 65 mins after sitting down we eventually got our starters which were nice. 30 mins later we got our mains (all had pie) which I’m afraid to say were not. Inedible chips, bland lifeless pie and surprise al dente carrots ( menu stated peas). The staff did listen to our complaint and all were very apologetic. One strange thing with the waiter was that he wanted to taste one of the chips we complained about and so ate one off our plate at the table! We made friends with others who arrived at the restaurant as they also waited 90mins for their meals and also had to send back as cold. I just hope this isn’t indicative of every day

We were stopping at the hotel before we went to the Emmerdale tour. We booked the restaurant for the evening meal and were really impressed. The staff were lovely, really polite. We were served quickly and the food was very good. Prices were what you would expect from a hotel restaurant but we think the quality was very good so worth paying the extra.
