Over 1 hr wait for lukewarm chips an ultimate chicken burger ,without a bun, and relieved 3 chicken goujons served on a lettuce leaf with a slice of tomato. A real disappointment for mothers day.

Booked a table, arrived and waited nearly 10mins to be seated, there were probably only 25 people in the restaurant but all the other tables hadn't been cleared away. Apologies were made saying they were extremely short staffed. Our order was taken quickly but it took another 15mins for our drinks to come, another customer who walked up to the bar and was served before us. The fire/security alarm went off twice whilst we were there but these was no reassurance everything was ok. The toilets were unpleasant and had no soap. To be honest I was glad to leave, been there a few times before and this time was very disappointing.

Food was good. Service was very poor. 10 minutes to wait before getting our order, then a long wait before we could order coffee. Only 1 person making drinks. Priority was given to alcohol drinks our coffee was made and left sitting on the counter for at least 5 minutes while other drinks were served.

I’d booked a table but on arrival was abruptly told there was a thirty minute wait for food, almost as though we might decide to go elsewhere. In the end it was only about 20 minutes which was fine but it wasn’t the warmest welcome. We ordered drinks at the bar and were told they’d be brought over but unfortunately they were forgotten, most likely as there was only one staff member behind the bar pouring drinks between taking orders. In the end the drinks and food all arrived together and we all enjoyed our meals. Given it was Father’s Day the restaurant wasn’t that busy yet it felt like the staff were all under pressure and overstretched. However my dad said he liked his food and enjoyed himself which was good. I chose this restaurant as my dad always orders fish and chips. The experience was ok but I won’t be rushing back sadly.

we've eaten here several times before and headed back as we were in Portsmouth and wanted fish and chips by the sea. The food was good but the service was terrible and restuarant looked tired. We will go somewhere else next time.

Good food but patchy service. Placed order at bar, took a while for drinks to arrive & then they were wrong; time taken for food to arrive was acceptable, but still no drinks - eventually we had to ask a waiter again, then a manager came and said the drinks order had disappeared from the system so could they take it again. Drinks finally arrived about 10 minutes after food. Only 1/4 or less of tables were occupied so wasn't due to pressure on staff. Fish & chips nice & were able to take away leftovers, whitebait were a bit oily, would be better just dusted in flour/ salt/ pepper than battered.

servce good,not offered a child's menue but charged full price for one sausage and chips which on all previous visits were 2! Staff used to take your order but now you have to go to counter like "Pub" food, Large cod was not!

Felt rushed after main meal as staff started clearing table before my husband had finished eating. Had quite a long wait for dessert. Main meals was good and tasty, dessert was bought in not homemade.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Food very good and just enough to fill you up! Will definitely eat there again when I next visit Southsea.

Lovely location and decor for a more upmarket seaside experience. Portion size seemed a bit erratic (Senior cod and chips was the same as regular despite price difference).. A pity it was not table service as it wasn't busy.

We use Deep Blue whnever we need to eat in Southsea. The food is absolutely excellent and the staff are wonderful - so friendly and helpful. I know the food is cooked from fresh but it does take a long time for the dood to be delivered after ordering. There were only about 10 of us in the restaurant, but it took quite a while - especially the desserts which we had to chase. It won't put us off eating there, but I do wonder how long the waiting times might be when it's a lot busier.

A bit disappointed to turn up and find you need to order online from your table, it’s a ball ache and no one wants to faff around with the online menu and putting in payment details etc. what was wrong with having a waiter/waitress to talk to? To have a ‘restaurant’ experience?

Good restaurant in a great setting right on the pier. The food is well cooked, and the staff are friendly and helpful. A good place to take children, and though its children's menu is limited, it has the classics for them.

Not just fish and chips, but Deep Blue fish and chips. Probably the best I’ve ever eaten. Also, Jules gave us such a lovely warm welcome and was so attentive and friendly. If I ever open a restaurant she is coming to work for me. Go there, you won’t be disappointed.

We've used Deep Blue on the pier a number of times. The food is always excellent. My plaice and chips were cooked to perfection, as was my partner's steak and kidney pie and chips, although he said the pie was a little on the dry side. Service was very good indeed - very friendly and attentive staff. Sadly we didn't have time to stay and try the cherry pie or the jam sponge, which both sound great!
