The most delicious dumplings, not doughy at all. The custard bao is superb!

As a Taiwanese, I’m really proud that we finally have our first franchise open in London to show people how great our food is. Din Tai Fung is always a MUST go place for me whenever I visit my family back in Taiwan; due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to be back to my country for 2 years so I’m really glad to have Din Tai Fung to resolve my homesick - the food was super delicious as it always is. However, I’m not very satisfied with the service there. So, my husband and I had a reservation for 2 at 20:30. Firstly, the soup which me and my husband ordered was already sold out which was okay, we accepted and understood that. However, during our dining there, there was literally no one came to ask if we needed some water, we had to ask 3 times for water and then finally someone came. This is quite different from the Din Tai Fung in Taiwan, as back home there always have people serve water to customer. Thirdly, again, we just came into the restaurant at 20:30z. At 21:00, we were still waiting for our next dishes, and the waitress already came to our table and asked us if we are done for 3 times… we ordered around £100 food for 2 people and I cannot believe we paid service fee for this kind of service tbh… this is not something that would happen in the Din Tai Fung restaurant in Taiwan for sure.

I know this chain, Din Tai Fing very well for maybe 20 years in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and later Singapore, where the dumplings are GREAT! I couldn’t be bothered to wait in a queue in Covent Garden for the last year or so since you opened, but booked for 4 of us today. We ordered a lot of dim sum, the menue looked great and enticing but when it all arrived in groups it ALL TASTED the same and really dull - what on Earth is going on? It was terrible.... you need to have great dim sum makers as in the Far East. I noticed hardly an Oriental client in your restaurant and I AM NOT SURPRISED, they obviously don’t like your food.

Food was great as usual however I’ve to wait for 50 min to have my dessert which was only a custard bun and a red bean bun so two buns and a long long wait - Shocking! The waiter agreed to refund me only cause I suggested that after all the waiting but I got no receipt or anything as proof as you now order and pay for your order online straight from your table. Let’s see if I get my money back but then waiting was just unbelievable for the size of the order :(

The vegetarian options are limited. If you have allergies ie nut allergy there is no information on the menu at all so be extremely careful. I would not eat here if you have dietary needs. Dumplings delicious but service is poor and expensive for portion sizes. There are superior dumplings elsewhere In London.

The food arrived very quickly and was really delicious. Excellent value for money. Every single staff member was so polite and gentle, and the whole restaurant is so good but is super not-pretentious. Will definitely go back!!

As a Chinese person, I thought the traditional handmade sui lun baw was delectable. The salad side dishes were delicious and the handmade noodles dan dan meen beautifully presented. Ordering online was easy, efficient service highly recommended!

Food is absolutely delicious. Staff are so lovely and attentive. Great atmosphere. My only criticism is that the food came out a little too quickly, but other than that it was amazing.

Food was lovely and staff friendly. Prices are way too much though and the £25 tip automatically added to the bill (which can’t be removed) is outrageous. We had to submit our own order and had to ask for water for the table. Service did not warrant a tip!

We come from Asia and our family have had the pleasure of eating regularly at Din Tai Fun in Taiwan and Singapore and the London branch met our high expectations. The prices were well above those in Asia, but it was good to 'be home' and the Xiao Long Bao were excellent (as always!)

Love the food here and it’s consistently amazing wherever you go to DTF anywhere in the world. Found the service poorer with the phone ordering and payment system. One small item did not turn up on our original order and a follow up order of additional dumplings did not arrive until we reminded them 30 mins after ordering. Feedback: a restaurant of this quality should not be taking money up front including the service in my view. We did not bother asking for the money back for the missing item as it would have been a hassle to sort out a refund with this system and we had already stayed longer than expected due to the 2nd order delay.

Everything was excellent apart from the canned music — which was obtrusively loud. I had come to enjoy their food, knowing from my previous experiences here in London and many times in Hong Kong that it would to a very high standard and the music interfered with our conversation and did nothing to add to the ambience. Maybe I am just too old and everyone else loves it.

Very interesting ordering system on app. Paying before you get the food, good or bad. More fish only dishes would nice. Try it but won’t go back..

Another great meal at Din Tai Fung! We love this place and the xiao long bao never disappoint. We used the contact free mobile ordering using the QR code - would be much better if they did acknowledge to the table that the order had been received. Was left wondering if they did or not as it took a while to get our drinks too. But go for the food!!
