10/10There is always a warm welcome from the staff at The Durbar. This restaurant is a Bayswater institution, which serves delicious food at very reasonable prices with prompt and friendly service to the locals who love it and the tourists who seek it out. Would highly recommend for a jolly nice curry, especially the Chicken Dhansak, it’s delicious!

10/10We figured that if Darbur has been going since 1956 it must be doing something right, and so it proved - we had a great time there. The food was all delicious, chosen from an extensive menu which featured all the tried and tested favourites plus a few surprises; service was friendly and quietly efficient; and the general vibe comfortingly traditional. We honestly couldn't fault it! Heartily recommended.

9.5/10Visited the Durbar again last night. It’s the perfect local Indian restaurant, lovely staff who give great service and delicious food. Try the Chicken Dhansak, it’s excellent. Don’t forget to take your own beer or wine, as they don’t serve alcohol.

2/10I had an awful experience at [Restaurant Name], and I must share it. The food was the worst I’ve ever had. The kebabs were undercooked, almost raw, and watery. The bhindi lacked flavor and was also watery. The tandoori chicken was cold inside, clearly not fresh. Service was just as bad. After a few bites, we asked for the bill, leaving most of the food untouched. Despite being the only table with multiple staff around, no one asked if something was wrong. Their indifference was shocking. To top it off, when I requested a copy of the bill, the staff member rudely took it from my hand and questioned why I needed it. It’s my right to have the invoice, but he only returned it after adding a VAT number, which felt unprofessional. This experience was frustrating from start to finish. I won’t be returning, and I advise others to avoid this place.

7.5/10The food was good but not amazing and the service was friendly but there were mistakes. We are outside because it was packed inside and it was far too stuffy. There isn’t much atmosphere either. Overall a 7.5 out of 10

9.5/10This friendly neighbourhood restaurant, now in 67th year, serves delicious food with great service in a pleasant atmosphere. Frequented by locals who know how good it is and tourists who’ve done their homework on where’s good to go, you won’t be disappointed at the Durbar. Don’t forget to take your own beer or wine with you as they don’t serve alcohol.

10/10This restaurant is fantastic. It is super high-quality & authentic Indian food. Clearly the establishment cares greatly about your experience and takes pride in their service and the quality of their food. Has a local authentic feel. Not a fancy vibe, but perfect for a fabulous well priced meal!

10/10Really liked this, 'Old School', traditional style Indian Restaurant. Poppadoms and Dips, with Lime Pickle too, which I haven't seen in a long time. Starters of Onion Bhaji and very delicious Lamb Samosas, for my wife and I. I had Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, very nice with lots of green chilli's, as it should be. My wife had an amazing looking Lamb Shank, which she said was very good also. Boiled Rice and a very light and fluffy Garlic Naan too. All great with pleasant waiting staff. Restaurant is BYO, (bring your own), too. Got 20% discount via The Fork app. They do charge the London centric 12.5% Service Charge, but this was offset by the discount. A very cosy and pleasant restaurant, which we'll return to, without hesitation.

9/10Nice place, last night noisy due to a birthday. Food is nice. They don’t serve alcohol but you can buy: there is a supermarket in 1 minutes walking, where you can purchase chilled beer or wine. Eventually a good experience

8.5/10I'd never been to Durbar before but was encouraged to do so due to the Fork's offer. I was not disappointed. This is in no way a fancy upscale restaurant, but doesn't pretend to be. It's an old fashioned Indian, which is no bad thing, as long as the food is good, which it was. There's an extensive menu (which sometimes worries me due to items being frozen) - I did ask the question about the scallops which I wanted to order, and was told that they were tinned. I passed. But the chicken dishes are prepared fresh and skilfully. Just know what you're ordering!

9.5/10A real Bayswater institution, been there for years. We love the Durbar. Delicious food and good service. A real neighbourhood curry house, full of local people who know what a great place this is. We also like the beautiful sitar music they play, which gives it an authentic atmosphere.

8.5/10I had been visiting Durbar for 20 odd years even before their relocation across the street. Their house dish 'Lorient Chicken' and starters are as splendid as even, however I can't say the same other main dishes. The gravies was on the watery side and side dish 'baingan bharta' has no smokiness in it all even if the taste was alright. Their chef has definitely changed.

9/10We came here on Christmas Day as pubs were super expensive and it was a great choice! The mains and rice were gorgeous, we had the calamari starter which was decent, and the naans/poppadoms were lovely too. As it's BYOB we brought our own drinks, which was a really nice bonus. Definitely recommend for a curry night or even a special occasion, really appreciated that they were open on Christmas too!
