Well the food was wonderful and I would be very hard to find fault. However, what spoilt the ambiance was a couple of men seated when we arrived who were clearly not eating but simply having a beer. Coupled with that there was a constant stream of males coming into the restaurant either greeting staff or the guys drinking beer. Were they off duty staff or family members etc. who could tell, but they all regularly filed past us to have a cigarette outside and then returned. All rather odd and didn’t create a relaxing atmosphere in which to dine.

E Thirty Nine is a charming venue, great service and delicious food. I had the mussels to start; they were plump and juicy with a delicious pesto sauce. The starter was so filling that I needed a take-out bag to carry home the spicy half-chicken I had as a main. Absolutely delicious. My companion had tomatoes and mozzarella, followed by the lamb shank - again, utterly delicious. Patrick the maitre d' looked after us very well, was very friendly and charming. We're already planning to go again

Was made to feel welcome from the get go....what's all that aboot! Food was excellent especially the mussels with chorizo - superb. Was remarkably quiet for Sunday lunchtime (15.00) so atmosphere maybe a little down on what it would normally be but that worked for me...Will be back soon!

Thr good was amazing. We had 4 teenagers with us who can moan about anything for no reason. But they were all loving the food. We will definitely be going here next time we're in the neighbourhood.

As always, the food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully plated with carefully balanced flavours. Have been going to E39 since it opened so it’s like ‘going home’ in style. Patrick went out of his way to help for which we were most grateful. We plan to visit more often in 2025.

The food was absolutely superb! The steamed muscles were some of the best i've ever had and there was enough to keep me eating for at least half an hour! My Partners Pasta dish was also delicious. She said she would never finish the amount of pasta she had on her plate, but it was completely gone by the end! Patrick was an amazing host, very attentive and full of good conversation. We will definately come back if we're ever in Brighton again.

We had an excellent lunch today in a quiet and relaxed environment. Beautiful mussels, tasty soup, nicely cooked fish and superb seafood linguine, washed down with a pleasant range of wines and then a tiramisu that we shared, left us feeling more than satisfied! Our first visit, but what a happy choice! Heartily recommended.

Fantastic service from server April, delicious food and generous portions. Great cocktails, if any room for improvement would suggest more vegetarian options. Only one vege main course and we had two vegetarians on our group. Nice relaxed unhurried ambience.

The service was outstanding and I felt taken care of by both the server and the owner himself. The place was very cozy and I just loved the overall ambiance. The food was top quality and everything on the menu could be adjusted to my needs. Very fresh ingredients and excellent flavour. Prices were very reasonable for the amount and quality you receive. I can’t wait to come back.

I booked this restaurant as I was intrigued by the name and also the reviews were very good. From first entering we were greeted by a lovely waitress and shown a great table by the window. The lighting and ambiance was great and cosy too. Our food of bruscetta and the amazing fish stew were perfect. So much fish and beautifully cooked in a tomato sauce full of flavour. It’s the little things that impressed me like the elegant bottled tap water with fresh lemon and mint in it too. They serve lovely cocktails but we didn’t try one but next time we will! Isam, our fabulous waitress was exceptional and very attentive. 10/10

We came here once before and had a great experience with attention to every detail that any diner would expect. Unfortunately, having booked a table on 30th May for a family event for this evening on 5th July - we were very disappointed that our table was not prepared when we arrive on time. Furthermore, there was not enough staff to tend to the table service we and anyone would expect after previous years of restaurant bookings.

We had the upstairs to ourselves and the waiter, Sam, was very friendly and a great mixologist! Sad that there were no pizzas on offer as I am a veggie and that ruled out a lot of options for me. Otherwise, lovely place and great staff.
