10/10Good choice of food, pleasant chatty staff, food was hit lively,view amazing. Reasonably priced. Wound line to have a little piece if shortbread or a nibble when having coffee or tea even if we have to pay for it. Only let down was that!!

10/10We chose the spring menu and couldn’t be happier. All dishes were so tasty and the complimentary Margarita was a nice touch. Highly recommended

7/10The food was delicious, the service however was poor. Our server was not very attentive, we had to ask someone else for our bill and again we had a wait before we then had to ask to pay .

4.5/10Extremely slow service despite a good number of front of house staff. Food very slow to appear and then only luke warm. They did replate when mentioned but left my husband eating alone so that his wasn’t cold and then me eating alone when it re appeared and they eventually managed to find me a knife and fork!! . Food quality pretty average. I was disappointed. They did try to rectify with a complimentary drink.

9.5/10First visit to the brasserie and had requested window table which we were given with stunning views. Service was fantastic throughout with a complimentary glass of wine as they had run out of our chosen wine. A really lovely touch and set the standard for the rest of our visit. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the wine list and offered an alternative recommendation which was helpful. Food was fresh and delicious. Again our waiter was knowledgable and able to easily answer our questions regarding various dishes. What really stood out was the high standard of service right from being greeted at the entrance and throughout our lunch. We didn’t feel rushed or under pressure to give the table back which unfortunately appears to be a post Covid legacy. Our waiter was charming, respectful and made us feel very valued as customers. Again something that hospitality appears to have become a little lax at. Good menu from snacks and lighter bites to main meals averaging £28-£25. Wine list good and not overly priced for Edinburgh. Only negative was noise level as it got busier but our table was tucked away so not too bad. A really nice experience and will most certainly be back. Well done HN

7/10The situation of the restaurant with views over St Andrew Square is what makes it special. Because there is no carpet on the floor there is quite a bit of echo so it’s not overly easy to chat. Initially the service was good but after our food was delivered we were not asked if me wanted more food or drinks.

10/10Great birthday lunch for my sister. We had salmon and tart tatin. Delicious.Happy Birthday on her pudding plate was a lovely touch. Everything was excellent. Thank you!

8/10Food and service good but let down by very loud music ( was turned down a bit when requested). Lighting that was so low we couldn’t read the menu, and toilets that were messy paper lying on the floor and soap not replenished.

10/10We had a very nice relaxed meal in a pleasance ambience. Service was good and food excellent. The balance between attentive service and leaving us to enjoy our meal was very sensitively done.

10/10HN have done a super job with social distancing in the restaurant. We felt very safe. The food was excellent and the service was first class. We had a window table and there was a great space between us and the neighbouring tables. The shop uses the front entrance for going in and the side door for leaving. Staff were very helpful and there was a good atmosphere.
