6/10Food was so disappointing. Liver pate was really bad. Fish was amazing but cabbage served with it had too much vinager. The chef needs to taste his food before serving it or maybe it was a bad day!

The restaurant's look and music recreate really well the typical atmosphere of French bistrots. The food was delicious, and the value for money of the Fork menu was excellent BUT we were sat next to a couple who spent the entire time on their computers and face-timing friends and family members really loud. We politely mentioned that we would appreciate if they could be a bit quieter, but they didn't understand why, so got a bit quiter indeed but carried on face-timing until we left. The staff could obviously see what was going on but did not bother. If I were the staff, I would have asked them to go in a coffee shop or a McDo rather than being in a restaurant trying to display a certain level of standing. I was also surprised when we were told to put our coats on the "cloackroom" hangers ourselves... of course, nothing we can't do, but if you're playing the elegance card, I would have expected the staff to do it (like they do in most restaurants of similar standing, to be honest).

10/10The service team were warm and welcoming. The menu was wide ranging, with each course well prepared, presented and full of flavour. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience, and good all round value. I shall definitely return in the near future.

3.5/10I visited Galvin Bistrot & Bar for Sunday Lunch, and while I’d hoped for a relaxing meal, there were a few bumps along the way. The Sunday menu offered in the restaurant seemed to differ from the options advertised online, with a less fancy selection of meat. Service was slow, and although the starter was delicious, my main arrived cold, and reheating left it unevenly warmed. The staff were clearly under pressure and did their best to make amends, forfeiting the bill and apologizing for the experience. While one server’s comforting gestures (touching my shoulder and holding my hand) felt overly familiar, their genuine effort to smooth things over was appreciated. I hope my experience was a one-off, as Galvin Bistrot has potential for a great dining experience on a good day.

10/10Superb lunch with great food and reasonable portions and good wine options during a time when many restaurants are losing the plot. A bustling energy, with all types of clients, focused on enjoying themselves-- this venue is not uptight nor pretentious, and generally warm and comfortable. Staff were professional and welcoming. Volume levels enabled normal comversation.

We went for the set menu and 3 course option for £28. It was good but you do have to ask for it - it’s not brought over automatically. Cheapest bottle of wine is £35. But the beef and mash was delicious and the Pannacotta.

9.5/10We had a very nice evening at the bistrot. We had opted for the vegetarian options in the set menu - the portion sizes was very generous and the food was very tasty. We had originally opted for 3 courses but had to stop after the main course as we were so full. The staff were friendly and attentive which is always a plus.

9.5/10Had an excellent lunchtime meal selecting from the set menu. The food was excellent, service timely without being rushed, and the being inside with a full service the noise level while initially high did subside after 2pm. A thoroughly memorable experience and I would not hesitate to return.

10/10Staff were all smiling and helpful, initiating conversations as well as answering. Music was low and pleasant not intrusive. Everyone around was having a good time. We had the three course set menu with the fork and all three courses were scrumptious and we were stuffed by the end. We nearly went to La Chapelle, but we went just around the corner and found a little gem. We didn’t mind the 14% service at all. We’ll be back.

10/10I always love Galvin. there are others too. it was tricky to find this one because of the massive renovation taking place at Spitalfields. There is a defined walkway. it would have been helpful to know about this. It was well worth the search involved! We loved it.

9/10Great find! Great deal - £28 for a 3 courses menu! Absolutely amazing. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Aubergine was a bit underseasoned for my taste but that's my humble opinion. Service got better towards the second half of the meal. We waited for an hour to have our starters and drinks.

9.5/10The set lunch menu was amazing value and the food was so delicious- I’ve never had gluten free rolls as fantastic as the one I had (my friend had one too and she couldn’t tell the difference from a normal roll). Staff were attentive but not fussy and overall we had an extremely pleasant lunch. Have already recommended this to several friends.

8.5/10Ambience and food were very good, the restrooms were clean (despite no hand cream) and the staff was polite. However, it took us 15 min to get the waiter to the table to order and after we were done, 30 min to get the bill (including raising from the table to chase the waiter). Overall, not a bad experience, but honestly a bit below the level I expect for a wedding anniversary in a Michelin restaurant.
