6/10Gaucho Edinburgh, located on St Andrew’s Square, offers a stylish yet somewhat inconsistent dining experience. Bookable via the fork and opentable. The bar on the top floor sets the scene for pre-dinner drinks, while the lower ground floor houses the main restaurant. The dark interior, featuring wood-like tree effects, semi-circular booths, and plenty of mirrors, creates a moody, intimate setting. However, some details—like crumbs on the moleskin-style seats and the noticeable jolt when a neighboring table moves—detract from the polished atmosphere. On a Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm, the restaurant was fairly busy, with a lively atmosphere amplified by dance music and the general hum of conversation. The low lighting, mainly from candles, adds to the ambiance, though it may not be ideal for those who prefer a brighter setting. The food was a mixed bag. The 225g rump steak, ordered rare, leaned more toward medium rare. The chimichurri sauce was underwhelming, more of an oily dressing.

5.5/10For a place that clearly values itself in the premium range, the service is lackluster, and in our experience the food is not up to scratch (steaks were overcooked which is par the course, however our chips were overly salty). Given that when we visited it was rather quiet, this is even less of a reason to justify the price point asked, and the resulting quality of food and service provided. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this chain and would state to go elsewhere for better value steak.

6/10Clean tidy quality decor. Couldn’t relax. Tables to close together, not enough room. Prices did not match the quality of food. I had spatchcock chicken. Only came half a small chicken in two pieces so not spatchcock. The service was too much for me. Pouring wine and water without asking, feeling pressured. Then £12.00 added to the bill for two, for service. Without even pointing it out before taking my money.

4.5/10I have visited Gaucho 4 times in the last 6 months and on my experience I recommended it to 3 friends. We the Sunday Roast and at least 2 of could not eat the meat which was too cheewy and I personally left more meat than I ate.

9/10We went for steak and we got great steak. Service was good but we've had great service before. Everyone seemed very busy. The only thing ..there was a bad smell in the toilets, I guess it was the end of a busy Sunday.

9.5/10Delicious ribeye steak. with Malbec and bone marrow sauce - superb! There was a large , very noisy party in and at our request, thankfully management accommodated us elsewhere. The reason I marked service down a bit, was because our food took a long time to arrive, which was due to the large group being served.

10/10We have another great meal, I’m now hooked on the rump steak and the cream corn side. Only disappointing element is they have replaced the baked cookie dough desert which is the highlight of the meal so pleeeease out it back in the menu
