6/10So I would say food here is OK, nothing exceptional and it is not a good value for money! Everything is super expensive and not even that tasty, I mean is not bad obviously but quite average. There are plenty of nice restaurants in London, like Ivy Asia is much much better. Dishes we recommend: Crispy tofu and seaweed salad Dishes don’t recommend: Tuna Tartar (had strong smell, like it was not fresh), Tuna Tataki (not tasty and super small portion), sushi in general was not that tasty and very average We paid +£100 per person at the end and we had okay experience

10/10The ambiance at Ginza St. James is elegant yet relaxed, so you get a refined vibe without feeling stuffy. The décor is stylish and modern, making it a comfortable place to unwind over a meal. Service is excellent – the staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel well taken care of from start to finish. The food was fantastic, especially a couple of standout dishes I can’t stop thinking about. The Crispy Tofu absolutely stole the show – it had a perfectly crunchy exterior with a silky soft interior, and it was packed with delicious flavor. The Ginza Maki sushi was another winner; it’s their signature roll loaded with fresh tuna, salmon, and more, all incredibly tasty and well-balanced. These dishes made the meal memorable, and I’d highly recommend trying both if you visit.

7/10Food very high quality, service late at night was solicitous if a little insistent. The constant booming music was frankly dystopian especially in nearly empty restaurant. Zero thought went into sound pollution.

10/10The afternoon tea set was a unique take on afternoon tea. The food was very good, and the service was wonderful. They filled my water right when it was close to empty, removed dishes and switched to dessert plates at the perfect moment.

10/10The attention of the staff , the delicious food made the night unforgettable it was the anniversary of me and my girlfriend. Veronica gave us a very warm welcome , later we got a good recommendation of sake from Madalina that we both enjoyed and of course our service from Daniel was amazing with explanation and suggestions making you more confident of what to order.

10/10Fantastic evening! You feel the passion for their craft, its not just a restaurant. Richard, Alex, Daniel, and Victoria made us feel as special as if we were invited for dinner at their home! The amazing food and presentation is highest quality. And all for an extremely reasonable holiday date night! Our Thanks to everyone at Ginza St James.

8.5/10It was my birthday and I had a great time with my family with whom I was celebrating. The food was delicious though service was slow. The upside to slow service was that we didn’t feel rushed however a lot of the food and how it was timed when serving was uneven.

4.5/10Ginza was very expensive for what you get. The food was OK, but not close at all to being world class. I would not recommend it to anyone.

10/10+1Excellent food, great service with classy decor. We went for our anniversary and had a brilliant time. All the staff were so kind, knowledgeable and attentive and the tasting menu with wine pairing was a perfect match. Fabulous for special events or business meetings, Ginza is a gem in St James's.

10/10Lovely cocktails at the beautiful bar upstairs, then downstairs for a lovely set meal with lovely servers, all friendly and helpful. The food was really nice, high quality. On a Thursday early evening it was not crowded or noisy. Very enjoyable experience.

8.5/10+3The food was amazing and the salmon was very fresh (the best I've ever had), though the tuna (akami + otoro) could be better. Staff were very nice and friendly and gave great recommendations. The restaurant was a bit stuffy because of how it was underground – some more ventilation would be nice.

5.5/10We were disappointed with our meal, we were doing the set menu and 2 of the 4 diners wanted the meat (rump) option but were forced to take the sirloin as the rump was "not available" this meant a £90 !! surcharge for a few tiny slices of extremely greasy meat, which hours after, still left a horrible greasy taste in the mouth. We found the seating uncomfortable with the benches too far away from the table so that all four of us had to perch on the edge of the bench to reach our food.

4/10I had very high expectations of this restaurant. When we arrived, having made a booking and choosing a specific menu, the waitress had no idea about it. There was a very nice male (I think he was a manager of something) who suggested great drinks. The food was very average, apart from the sushi and the meat. At some point, someone served us something which we asked what it was and the person noded saying that he did not know. As asked for a 3rd glass of prosecco which only came when we were ready to ask for the bill so they did not charge us for it (nice of them). We were served by various people. My dessert was the same as my friend's but we were served different things. I am not sure why this restaurant was award a Michelin star.

5/10Way over rated. I’m best comment is street food level of quality and price of a Michelin star restaurant. The whole restaurant is too hot, so sashimi get warm quickly. Also the portions are way too small than industry standard. This place doesn’t not show authentic appreciation of Japanese food, rather it is show house business for those who have not had proper Japanese food. S

6/10Thé food is good, but heavily overpriced, Just regular Japanese dishes. Nothing special. The atmosphere is cold and the service rather chaotic. In the end they refused to call us a taxi, because last time it arrived late. Just incredible! Never again!

6.5/10Staff members were helpful and made he atmosphere and experience nice, sadly the food didn’t hold up to its quality and value. We ordered the Nigiri platter and the sushi rice was a little dry and tough. The sukiyaki was a little sweet and we expected more for £60, came with small thin slices of beef and mostly vegetables. Sashimi should also be served on ice as it tasted slightly lukewarm.

8/10The Restaurant's appearance is great, run by well dressed Italians with not one Japanese in sight.. Service was good, our waitress was Romanian and the food was good. The open wine I ordered (Spanish Tempranillo) had been open to long and I did not drink a second drop. The reason for which I will never go back there however, was the 15% service charge put on the bill.

4.5/10The waitress who served our table was very courteous and tried her best to be helpful, and that was probably the good point of the meal. Other than that, the food and drink services were both very slow. The food was ok, but was not at the quality expected of the price. We spent £190 for dinner which just covered the food (this excluded 2 drinks which were on the house because they came extremely late), and did not find that good value when considering the amount and quality. The only thing we can remember as being good was probably the chawanmushi. Rice of the nigiri platter was also tougher than what you would expect. Overall, £190 is not an outrageous amount to expect for 2 people at a more "upscale" Japanese restaurant in London, but the good and service we had were not at that level. The restaurant was not full, and diners were sparsely seated (in a space that did not appear to be intended for that), so the ambience was not anything special either.

10/10A genuine Japanese experience in terms of food and ambiance. Excellent starters - tempura, pickles, seaweed - and mains - beef and chicken. It’s an expensive place, but we knew that and, actually we left feeling well fed and with good value for our money. Quite quiet, but a cold Tuesday in Jan was never going to be riotous!
