I thought the new refurbished restaurant was great however I was quite disappointed that they have done away with some old classics like the steak pie and chicken and ham pie too plus the chicken liver pate too was really looking forward to having that but had to go with something totally different that I don’t normally pick but was just as good.

The welcome was stilted. I arrived and showed my booking made via The Fork. I know their Grill restaurant is used often for their spa customers to enjoy their set menu. The fact that I had booked via The Fork seemed to cause a bit of confusion, and there was back-and-forth between staff members to figure out what to do with me.
After that issue was resolved and I was seated, the service was presented and friendly.
The food was a bit slow to arrive (30+ mins) but when it did arrive, it was very nice, well presented, good temperature and tasty.
My business guests commented repeatedly on what a lovely ambience there was in the restaurant and how they would love to return.

Where do I start everything from waiting to be shown to our seat , the food , having ate our starters
Before our drinks even arrived at the table a pint of beer and a glass of wine and then the service now that isn’t a dig on the actual servers/waiters but by god they are running about everywhere no set area etc. the place is terrible and needs mass improvement and by Hilton standards really isn’t what you expect . Food was below average to be fair fillet steak ordered medium then came out and it was rare had to be sent back so I had then eaten my dinner and my wife’s didn’t come back out for another 20 minutes . Everything all round with food and over night stay was terrible. Won’t be back to this hotel .

Waited half an hour for our drinks and our meal came before they arrived. We had to ask twice if they were on their way. Ordered a burger for our meal. Looked lovely on the plate but unfortunately was raw in the middle leading us sending it back to the kitchen. They did take the cost of the burger off the bill but it really put us off returning.

The service has been very slow. The food is expensive for what you get. £12.50 for a starter which was basically some Parma ham taken out of a packet from Tesco. My wife ordered beef and ale pie which was heated in a microwave

Staff were nice but I didn’t enjoy eating with women in their dressing gowns coming from the spa… didn’t think it was very hygienic and wasn’t pleasant.. Needs a bit of a spruce up with crockery

Service was excellent but the food was poor and not very hot. Really below average for a Hilton !!
The belly of pork was inedible as it was impossible to cut up. I was given an alternative dish namely Chicken Supreme which was basically Chicken & Chips. Over priced and poor quality. Giving the company a bad name which in this instance is accurate.

£7 for meatballs as a starter. Looks like 5 of them have been picked from a tin & microwaved.
Chicken supreme was rubber.
Tomato & basil soup didn’t taste great - bland.
Afternoon tea service took ages & the sandwiches were stale & tasteless.
Not 4* quality or “Hilton” expectations

Being told there was only tables up to 4pm for dinner, when arriving the restaurant was empty, and still continued to stay empty. The menu was very limited, and very dry on both orders. The communication between having purchased a “package of dinner bed and breakfast” is terribly organised being initially billed for the “dinner” until we had to query if it was still sort of the stay?! Asking where we redeem the “free drink on arrival” at dinner we were told at the bar once dinner was over with, when it says on the card it would be given at dinner.

The staff were polite and service was good. However the quality of the food really let this restaurant down. They didn’t serve what was stated on the menu, goats cheese mousse was just goats cheese. Sea bass didn’t have samphire. Pork belly accompaniments were cold. I wouldn’t recommend.

Had a lovely Afternoon Tea celebrating a friend’s birthday. Easy to find with ample parking. Friendly staff who made you feel welcome. I would certainly recommend.
