Excellent
The food arrived promptly and tasted great, there were no issues Amanda the service was perfect. It’s hard to find places that serve great food and don’t get things wrong so next time I go to Thorpe park we will definitely come back here ????
The Sunday roasts we had today were exceptional. It’s hard to find roasts that are as good as home-cooked but the Golden Grove has nailed it. The service could be improved - the staff are friendly but it was hard to get their attention so we felt we had to wait a few times to order drinks, deserts, etc. I did feel so sorry for them trying to enforce all the new rules of 6 maximum and kids sitting at tables. People weren’t being very cooperative and it just looked very stressful. I think it’s an unusual time and the atmosphere is probably better than that usually.
The food was very tasty, I had the beef tacos. The house wine New Zealand white was delicious. Social distancing adhered to. It got a little bit noisy when a party of 8 came and sat at the next table so we were able to sit outside in the sunshine which was much better.
Found they abided by the distance ruling but did come to some tables with food + drink. Hand sanitizer on all tables. Felt safe there. Staff friendly & aware of rules & regulations.
We really enjoyed our visit! Simple to follow extra precautions for COVID-19, excellent service with a smile and lovely food. Spacing between tables helped make me feel safe. It was a special treat to have someone else cook instead of me.
Booked for lunch with friends. From walking in you felt in a safe environment, you were shown to your table where you were told the extra procedures that were in place for your safety, staffs and others around you. They couldn't do more. The meal albeit a limited menu was excellent and will certainly recommend. Thank you all, stay well, stay safe and will certainly be returning.
Really swift and efficient service. Fantastic setting and ambience for a summers evening. Menu was very limited. However the food we ordered was delicious and it also arrived quite promptly. Even though we were late arriving with 30 min to kitchen closing - did not feel rushed. All in all a good pub dinner. Will be back again. Ray - Epsom
We really enjoyed our evening. The ambience outside was lovely - fairy lights, candles, outdoor seating across a well-maintained garden - what’s not to like! We had the scampi tacos and loaded fries which were yummy. Then espresso martinis and the billionaire shortbread sundae. Heaven...
Great food. Polite & pleasant staff. Play area for the little ones.
I met a friend for a weekday lunch. The pub was fairly quiet but met our needs, particularly as we wanted to chat and catch up. Parking was good. Food range was fine. Serving staff were if anything slightly too attentive. In my working life I have eaten many pub-food lunches in many pubs. It was just like those.
We were a group of 11 walkers and were welcomed warmly. The food was delicious; we all chose different things from the lunch menu. The restaurant was quirky and old - great atmosphere, open fire, low ceilings, a padded beam (!), patio doors which open up onto the garden area - which will be lovely in the summer. The staff were friendly and courteous; the service was good - all the food arrived at about the same time. We chatted and relaxed and all had a lovely time. We'll be back!
Limited evening menu and quite expensive we thought. Food was tasty and service was excellent. Lots of outside dining for summer and kids play area
The food was very tasty. We has a couple items in which we sent back due to cold temperatures, however this was rectified and a new portion came accordingly.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff who help create the relaxed environment that is present. Excellent standard and quality of food, which is also fantastically presented. The Golden Grove is our closest local pub and we are so glad that it is there. It was our seond visit, and we took the whole family out. We all appreciate good food and a good time and the Golden Grove definitely delivers! Looking forward to visiting often in the summer months and to take advantage of the beautiful beer garden. Although the prices may put many people off, the prices are most definitely worth it! You will not be dissapointed.
The ambience wasn’t great. Lots of very loud “customers” with their children. No issue with parents & children, but when you’re out late on a Saturday with another other couple, wasn’t what we expected. Food was average, which was a huge disappointment as been looking forward to trying it out since the refurb months ago! Drinks were very expensive too. All in all will not be going back unfortunately. The kingfisher in Chertsey is much better, so will be continuing to go there for a decent meal, well priced (and tasty drinks!) and great atmosphere! Shame as The Golden Grove could be a lovely pub!
The restaurant was very noisy. There was a dog in the restaurant which kept barking . The main course dishes were very small but the sweet dishes were very nice really enjoyed the sweets. I ate in the restaurant on the Thursday before and had a wonderful meal and dining experience but very disappointed on the Saturday
A WARM WELCOME AND DELICIOUFOOD
Food excellent and good service. Although noisy and couldn’t hear ourselves. The room echos so needs more furniture or screens?
Lovely pub and great food. Veggie wellington was delicious. Will be going back.
Throughout, the service and food was delicious and better than over a year ago. Really change since then, the starters and mains in between times that serves the food was a little bit longer than I expected but worth the wait.
