7.5/10The food here is genuinely excellent. We enjoyed three starters (beetroot, ox tongue croquette and beef carpaccio) and they were each delicious. The beef rib, while pricey, was cooked to perfection: pink inside and coal-charred on the outside. Even the one choice of dessert was good, as was the Bordeaux. Service was fine, albeit unremarkable. But there were two problems. First, the meat was tepid by the time it reached the table, partly because it wasn't served on a hot plate. I had to ask for a hot plate and got another lukewarm one. The meat was cold by the time we were half way through. Second, they have a serious problem with ventilation. There's smoke in the air, and the waitresses opened the windows several times to try to deal with it. As the outside temperature was 5C, this meant we got cold (and perhaps this contributed to the lukewarm meat). This is a new restaurant, about 3 months old, and the architecture (inside a railway arch) probably makes it difficult. But you cannot deal with a smoky grill in an open kitchen by opening the windows in winter. I do hope they can solve this problem because the chefs are excellent and deserve a more functional workplace... as do the customers!

9/10Food was really good quality and service very professional. The offer from The Fork was incredible value. It’s an informal setting (maybe too informal for the menu prices but maybe I’m just being old!) It did still have the air of a new opening but sure this will be ironed out. No toilets in the restaurant itself is also really weird for somewhere with top notch food.

6.5/10Really hard to find. Had to call two or three times. Prepare for a hunt once you get to Haley Wharf, the place is a maze and we got fairly vague directions tbh. There was an extremely loud chef holding court. We know far too much about his opinions and film choices now. The whole restaurant does. Bit of a mood killer. However, the table service was excellent and the food was exceptionally tasty. The fried anchovies on their Caesar salad and the celeriac were utterly delicious in every way. My only issue was a couple of the beef fat fried potatoes had black rotten bits on which was a surprise given the high standard and price of the other food. Also, a heads up, the nearest toilet is outside the restaurant, two floors up. When we went there was a huge long queue.

8/10Delicious food, everything we had was lovely. Service was extremely slow which was a shame as it was notably below the standard of the food.

8/10Great place, nice staff. Food wasn't outstanding. Steak was a bit too rare and not very tender, beetroot starter was great. Hotdog was very nice, but could do with less mayo.
