Very pleasant experience, if I had to find fault I would say that the meat was slightly dry but the flavour made up for it, great service, lovely atmosphere and booked to go back, looking forward to it already

We have visited the pub previously when on holiday, and had a fantastic meal. This time however we were really quite disappointed. The pub was quite busy as it was 'bike night', we got some drinks and were shown to our table. The waitress who took our order was really friendly and helpful and was quick to take our order, she was attentive throughout the meal. The menu was slightly confusing with 2 different prices for every meal with no explanation as to why. We ordered starters and mains. The starters arrived after 30 minutes with an apology for the delay to to it being busy, which I understand can be a problem. The starters were appetising and we enjoyed them. We then waited another half an hour for the mains - again I have no issue with the time having worked in the hospitality restaurant previously, I understand delays happen. My issue was that when the food finally arrived, it was quite underwhelming. My husband had ordered steak medium rare - it was overcooked. Our meals although generous in portion size was luke warm which took away some of the enjoyment, but as we had waited so long, we ate it anyway. It was a real shame as our first visit as we were coming out of covid in July 2020 was excellent - overall disappointing.

No one showed us to our prebooked table. they just pointed it out. Did request tabke by window (if possible) but was given one in the middle of the room. Food was not great. Pie meat very salty, veg dry and lacked flavour. My wife ordered chips but got mash. Had to stop the waitress to order refills of drinks. When we had finished our main course no one came to enquire if we wanted dessert, so we got menus ourselves but sfter waiting for over 10 minutes for service we gave up and just we to bar and paid the bill. Very disappointing. Won't be returning.

The food is always excellent - lovely homemade pies - great to have a choice of mash and new potatoes - everybody seems to do only chips these days which doesnt always suit the meal - lovely vegetables instead of everything with chips and salad. Lovely deserts. Good menu choice - better than anywhere else I go. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Highly recommend. Best around and I happily travel to go there.

Not a local place for us but knew we would be driving past around Sunday lunch time . Greeted on arrival and drinks order taken very quickly . All opted for carvery and not disappointed . Meat lovely and tender ( beef slightly pink as I like it) so perfect, and a good generous portion Roasties fab, Overall a big well done , pity we don’t live closer ????????

We have often driven past the Hunters Moon and decided to take dinner here on our way to Weymouth. At first glance the menu looked very ordinary with standard pub food on offer, the waitress was polite and explained the two price on each meal ( so you can choose small or medium portions) I opted for the steak and ale pie whilst my partner went for the 5 bean chilli… my pie was simply one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to eat, big hearty chunks of steak and a thick gravy, it was just delicious 10/10 my partners chilli had a BBQ taste to it that wasn’t quite to her liking and maybe could have had a bit more yogurt but that’s being picky. Big portions of excellent food, my sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was again perfect. I’m a very hard person to please but the Hunters Moon was a definite 10/10 Ps the beer was great too ????

This was a brilliant find tucked away in NW Dorset. The menu was imaginative and wide-ranging giving us all an attractive choice ranging across meat ,fish and vegetarian. If one could manage it there was an interesting number of starters to supplement the main courses and desserts. The dishes were well put together and generous in the servings. Whilst not cheap, the pricing was fair for what was offered and we hope to return before too long.

The menu had loads of options and was very varied. The meals were all lovely and it was a very friendly and welcoming place. One meal was served with items that we'd asked to be left off, but this was dealt with swiftly and efficiently so didn't cause an issue. Would definitely visit again.

We were staying nearby and had been told about the pub. Really lovely pub with lots of character. Staff were very attentive. Food was superb, hot and fresh . We will go back when we are next in the area

Always great food and a warm welcome at this establishment. Can get busy so don't expect food in minutes but it is well worth the wait. Out of busy times the wait is not long, food is always hot and great selection on the menu with daily specials.

Outstanding food and service. A proper country pub with excellent food with an extensive menu. There is also a specials board and the curry, pie & dessert specials change weekly We will certainly be returning.
