The food at Isla was superb. We had a mix of small plates and specials. We couldn’t fault the menu which had something for everyone and staff were mindful of allergies/intolerances. Food was well presented and of the highest standard. Delicious! Staff were great too and - despite it being a busy Saturday night - were attentive and friendly. I’d highly recommend Isla

The staff were very kind and found us a table upstairs instead of in the strong draft from the front door. Even a curtain there would help? The food and service were excellent. We had a wonderful time meeting up with old friends.

Staff were very friendly and chatted with customers making general conversation as well as ensuring we had drinks and supporting our food selection We have been before but this time there were some delicious new additions and twists to the menu. Our scallops and warm potato salad was very good and for main course we shared the beef and pork belly- both were so tasty we would have liked to lock the plate! Although too full really we couldn’t resist sharing a slice of carrot cake. Wonderful food can’t wait to return

The food is *excellent* and well above the usual Durham standard. My only complaint, really, was the two very large dogs with their owners sitting near the door as you walk in. Frankly, I think that the 'dog friendly' thing has gone way too far. I really don't want to share my space with someone else's dogs while enjoying an otherwise excellent meal. And I suspect that I'm not alone.

Lunch with friends. Good selection of small plates for sharing . All the food was good. The mackerel pate and the venison sausage roll were my picks of the day. Meal including soft drink, coffee and service charge worked out at £25 a head.
