5/10Wife was really excited to try this new restaurant out which was the old lemon tree restaurant. Was sat down wasn't given a menu for a while, we ordered starters chicken lollypop and kale onion bajees sounded and looked amazing but was so overcooked ruined all the flavour. Mains was presented really nice. Wife had the chicken makhani which I must admit was delicious mine on the other hand disappointed 😞 (lamb chops curry) fancy presentation. We got all dressed up but waiters had casual clothes on (white trainers) no uniform, music was loud and very random from carol of the bells to rock. we just thought is this a fancy restaurant or a street restaurant 🤔. I don't know if we are being over critical because we own restaurants and have high standards.

4/10Not a good reception despite me getting a confirmation for booking online plus re reminder Initially awful table asked to move . Toilet flush broken - reported. Slow service - had to ask for everything : drink - asked for wine cooler x 4 times ; warm tap water - no ice - had to ask x 3 for water at least . Had to ask to order - waited ages - no poppadoms then when we did ask- came out with starters ; x3 starters at same time then delay to 4th - had to ask - ages to clear the plates etc after starter and only when mains came out ( put some of our dirty plates on empty table next to ours - never cleared away) had to ask where sides we ordered were , x3 mains out and delay again for 4th . Paid bill over £200 - no complimentary drink with bill . Friends birthday so extremely disappointed . No leadership or waiter training apparent . Like “rabbits in headlights” . Where is new manager/owner .. Totally disorganised and food was ok only but also marred by service . Won’t be recommending .

8/10We enjoyed the Briyani which was nicely done. It was lunchtime and was a little understaffed with just one person serving tables . It’s not the cheapest but overall it was probably good value with the Fork discount. The menu is a little bit underwhelming as I felt there are not enough choices. For example I do not recall seeing any prawn or Fish dishes .
Our culinary provenance descends from the exuberant and unique spices and distinct flavors of the Indian Subcontinent. Inspired by historic and cultural roots of the river Kaveri in Tamil Nadu, our menu has been designed to being gastronomically unique and surprise your palate with tastes of sweet, sour, salt, bitter, hot and pungent - "arusuvai" (six tastes) - as mentioned in classical Tamil literature. Indulge in our food at a cozy and modern location in Colchester City, amidst the surviving ruins of characteristic Roman walls which have stood for thousands of years.
