9.5/10The food was very good . The staff were polite and helpful and above all it was affordable . We opted for the express lunch menu . Compliments to the chef . We could catch up with each other and have a good natter

5.5/10Nice Burger with good french frites. I would have loved to have an afternoon tea, but you have to order this in advance (which is nowhere made clear). Annoying.

6.5/10We stopped here after a day of sightseeing in York. The restaurant offered a 3 course meal with wine at a reasonable price (about 28 pounds). Overall, the meal was fine, though some courses more successful than others. The starter of chicken lollipops were tasty. But the entry of a flat iron steak was blank and needed more seasoning or a sauce. The desserts were fine, but the house wine mediocre. Service was pretty weak. We literally needed to walk up to our attendant (after she ignored 4 signals that she clearly saw) to get our bill. What kept her from helping us? She was talking with co-workers. Sigh.

10/10We decided last minute to make a reservation at Malmaison Bar and Grill. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent fish of the day and Steak Stripe 250g with cauliflower cheese and fries. Worth a visit when in York. Recommended.

8.5/10Very nice Christmas meal. Very noisy, too much background music. Excellent service. Very good staff. Pity nobody on the door reception, just reception at the restaurant. Coats were hung on the back of chairs. Rather expensive! Included Champagne but a glass of wine would have been good too!

8.5/10Great restaurant, food was excellent. The ambience is spoiled a little by the view from the windows, (a constant stream of buses) but that's a minor point. It was busy and service was a bit slow but this did not matter to us, vwe had a great time.
