Fabulous
Pleasant location, good staff. Food is of good quality, but very expensive especially as most meals need added sides. Food choice is rather limited (for some people more than others). I would prefer to give my own tip rather than the discretionary 10%
Delicious Sunday lunch. We had the 2 course set menu. The range of starters to choose from at the hor d'ouvres bar was fantastic and everything looked fresh. The roast was very good. Between the 4 of us we had chicken - lovely & juicy, pork, beef and salmon. All were very tasty and there was an excellent range of vegetables to share - cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, carrots, peas, parsnips, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding! ... and all perfectly cooked. The service was also very good - all the girls were very friendly - just the right amount of attentive.. and added to making a very good experience. Overall excellent! Thank you to all the kitchen and waiting staff.
The staff were attentive but not over the top! Food was amazing, onion rings a must with steak. The restaurant has some lovely features including prints, you’d make a fortune if you sold copies?!
Love the restaurant and how it looks
Ordered the £18 burger as in a massive burger lover and was very disappointed when it came out was the most basic beef burger I’d ever seen! 1 beef pate slic of tomato but of lettuce and 1 onion ring no flavour to it And quite small too with a portion of fries on the side a Wetherspoons burger taste better than this at quarter of the price!! My partner had the Shepard’s pie which came out looking like it had just come out of the microwave and when tasted was bland and didn’t even taste of lamb!! Presentation was shocking! Such a shame as the menu looked really good and the restaurant it’s self was really nice we got all dressed up on valentines weekend to sit down and be served low standard food so only ended up eating half of both dishes had one drink each and then called it a night.
Sunday lunch
It was a very good experience as always...staff very attentive... do miss the manager who has recently left...will need someone very special to fill those big shoes.. We did tell the staff on the day that it was not nice to have huge chunks of star anise in the red cabbage and all of us did...don’t expect to be careful of your fillings on red cabbage...
Greeted by staff by my first name, felt very welcomed immediately. Table for dinner looked immaculately presented. Great choice of wine, service quick, discreet and polite. Amazing food beautifully presented. Overall we had a great time. Thank you
Had scotch egg for starter excellent never tasted a scotch egg like it, the fish and chips were to die for and desert strawberry and cream the panna cotta never had it before was fantastic as for the service couldn't fault at all,the restaurant lovely and clean with a relaxed atmosphere
Smorgasbord really good feature of Sunday lunch, roast beef excellent quality very good mix of vegetables, chocolate mousse really good. Comfortable seating, really great friendly staff. Very competitive price as well
Bit disappointed . . . It had been raining, but nobody greeted us or offered to take our coats, so we lugged them around from the bar to the restaurant. One of our party sat in the large black and white armchair in the corner of the bar and hit his head on the ceiling light as he got up from the seat - he is a quite tall, but nonetheless maybe the light shouldn't hang quite so low. Although we reported to the resturant desk on arrival and were told we would be called through, nobody came to find us and after waiting 15 or 20 minutes past our alloted time, one of our party went to ask when our table would be ready and we were subsequently shown through to the dining area. The food was ok, but not exceptional. I had the roast pork, but it was just a couple of slices, with no crackling or stuffing to accompany it. The red cabbage was very disappointing, the roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese were good, carrots and peas were alright. There was only one vegetarian option (gnocchi in a tomato type sauce) and when the bill arrived it had a 10% service charge.
Good service, food excellent
Fabulous. The best steak .
Excellent waiting service by staff. Starters were really nice, main course was let down by poorly seasoned burgers that were overcooked. If we had been asked how we wanted the burger cooked it would have helped to resolve this. Overall a good experience but disappointed by the quality and cooking of the meat.
The food was delicious but took a very long time to arrive. The menu could have had more variety.
Amazing all round!
We did enjoy our meal...and the gentleman manager who was working there is such a great host....he remembers you from before and makes a fuss of you saying welcome back and is very attentive to everyone......a big asset to your restaurant..... When the lady manager brought us the bill it was very incorrect and we were being charged for 7 meals when there were only 4 at our table....when we told her the bill was incorrect she simply took it and changed it...with not much of an apology.... and in fact it was still wrong but my husband refused to bring it to her attention again as he had not liked her attitude...so we paid a higher priced bill.
Excellent service and Food
To be perfectly honest, the Afternoon Tea we had was disappointing. Service was fine but the food provided was different to that expected and advertised and what was provided wasn’t exactly great or made you feel you were being treated. The rare roast beef sandwiches were swapped for Turkey & Cranberry and the bread was dry so we left them. Overall, the sandwiches were ok but some were dry. There were none of the advertised Macaroons or Sachertorte but instead a selection of what I would consider as “last nights dessert leftovers” ie, a cheesecake, a coffee sponge, carrot cake with a fingerprint in the frosting and what looked like Mr Kipling small mince pie (they didn’t appear to be homemade or anything special). As this was a birthday voucher so we didn’t pay, we didn’t leave feedback but our half eaten food stand would have indicated our satisfaction. We would not recommend the Afternoon Tea and not sure we’d want to go back again.
Excellent in every respect.
