10/10My partner and I recently dined at Masala Art in Darlington, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As someone of Indian heritage, I was particularly impressed by the authenticity of the cuisine. The flavours, aromas, and presentation of each dish were reminiscent of the home-cooked meals I grew up with, making our visit truly special. The ambience of the restaurant was warm and inviting, with a décor that beautifully combined traditional Indian elements with modern touches. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring we felt welcome and well-cared-for throughout our meal. One of the highlights of our evening was meeting the head chef. Despite being busy with the evening service, he generously took the time to chat with us, sharing insights into the inspiration behind the menu and the culinary techniques he employs. His passion for authentic Indian cuisine was evident and deeply appreciated. Our meal was nothing short of spectacular. From the starters to the desserts, each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with authentic flavours. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. It's clear that a lot of thought and care goes into every aspect of the dining experience at Masala Art. Although we travelled from Newcastle for this visit, it was undoubtedly worth the trip. Masala Art is a gem of a restaurant, offering an authentic taste of India right in Darlington. We left with our hearts and stomachs full, already planning our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking genuine Indian cuisine and a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be back!

10/10Fantastic food, definitely ‘as sold’ ie artistry in the food esp. the starters. We went v early before seeing a film (530pm) so only one other couple there who left so we did have the place to ourselves - so I recommend going early for your tea! You’ll get great attentive service in a simple but smart & clean surrounding. Would definitely go back again.

10/10We had a great evening at Masala Arrt. The food was delicious and there were lots of dishes on the menu that were new to us. The portions were generous and the dishes well presented. The service was good particularly as there was a large group as well. The staff were friendly and helpful.

9/10All four of us enjoyed the food which looked beautiful and tasted gorgeous - another dimension of flavours to what we’ve been used to. The garlic naan had lots of garlic, as requested, you get really good portions of rice too. The madras sauce is a delight, really different to the usual offerings. Tandoori chicken and king prawns were wonderful, a piece of art on a plate. Chicken chettinaad was so tasty and made spicier as I requested, an impressive dish - such a marvellous combination of flavours. The lamb biryani went down a treat, a substantial portion, topped with a bread, like a pie crust, to seal in the flavour and aroma. The staff were really friendly and attentive, eager to ensure that everything was to our liking. We’ve found our new “goto” restaurant for Indian food in Darlington. Highly recommended, all boxes were ticked. We’re looking forward to a return visit. Well done to the Masala Art team, keep it up.

9.5/10Previous reviews drew me to Masala Art and I wasn’t disappointed. Service was helpful and very friendly. The food excellent - I had king prawn starter which was delicious and a no-sugar Butter Chicken for mains which was very tasty with a generous amount of fine chicken. Nice to have the option of not having sugar in dishes. The staff gave eccellent advice and made sure allergies were addressed (if any) and spice level was to individual taste. The menu gave a wide range of choices and I look forward to coming back to work through the list of other house specialities. Great music sets the tone for some truly excellent and very artistic cooking at this great restaurant.

7.5/10The staff were great and understanding. The ladies' toilet had no light in it. It might be good to get it repaired. The food was great, especially chicken lollipop. The butter chicken was a bit too sweet.

8.5/10It was our first experience at masala art. Their fish chilli is very tasty. The grilled platter is a bit dry but overall, a very nice weekend memory! Hope, we'll go there again soon.

10/10A small restaurant with modern decor next door to a good real ale bar. The menu was interesting, with various curry styles available and reasonably priced. The service was attentive and helpful, willingly accommodating our preferences. The food was delicious, well-presented and tasty. The team were proud of their offers and discussed with diners the ingredients and influences. HIghly recommended
