10/10+4I booked a specific table for a family gathering and we were given the table that we asked for. Restaurant was quite busy with a nice 'buzz'. None of my party could find fault with any of the food or wine and the staff were very friendly and attentive. It was a very nice experience all round. Thank you !

6.5/10I have stayed at New Place many times and have always enjoyed the restaurant. I was very disappointed with the menu changes and increase in prices. Service was very slow and we were often left with empty plates on the table. Our table was booked for 6.30 on a Monday evening- we left at 8.45. My main course - pork belly - was outstanding. Unfortunately the other courses were very disappointing.

9/10Got to say it is a lovely place, a little tricky to find at night, so make sure you have a good sat nav!! Imposing Jacobean brick stately home type building, lots of original features, expansive grounds and plenty of parking. Reception a little tricky to find, as the direction signage is in letters about an inch high for some reason? Staff we met were all lovely, bar is very quaint and the Fork restaurant quite intimate in a lovely way. Food was very well presented, quality fresh ingredients, hot plates and really tasty. It is a little on the pricey side, easy to spend £100 for 2 with a couple of drinks, but worth it for a special occasion! A great place to go for a wedding anniversary meal for example…

7.5/10Firstly I want to make it clear that all the staff are lovely. On arrival we couldn’t check in on time as our room wasn’t ready, I had let them know it was a birthday treat in my booking comments. So we went to the bar for a drink while we waited. I ordered a cocktail which took 20minutes to come, by which time my partner had finished his drink already. Dinner was lovely, again had to wait for drinks, food came out within reasonable time and was delicious, how ever,we waited such a long time for dessert that in the end we cancelled them as it got past the point of wanting them. Breakfast again was a bit of ordeal, you book a time slot upon check in yet wen we arrived at our allocated time slot there were no tables available, we were asked if we would like to sit outside but it was very chilly that day but said we would anyway just so we could get some food.

10/10We stayed here on the Sunday stopover deal and I was expecting to get maybe £30 each towards dinner,to our surprise we both got 3 course each!! If we was to pay for that alone it would have cost minimum £90!! So this offer is such good value for money as you get dinner bed and breakfast plus a bottle of wine in the room including! Staff were lovely,food was lovely room was lovely,would defo return and recommend

8/10Very good food and choice of menu. Service very slow. We were one of only three sets of people in the restaurant and it took approx 3 hrs to have 3 courses. For the dessert we had to hunt down a member of staff to take out order

10/10I dinex alone in the dining room in the evening. I didn’t feel awkward except I do wish when you book a table for one you don’t get the inevitable question and then 2nd place setting noisily removed. The house is beautiful, very British and historic. The food was top class and nicely presented. Breakfast was good but a little chaotically put out in buffet style. I would have preferred to be served fresh coffee or tea rather than a machine. Having said that the coffee was good but lots of getting up and down.

8.5/10I have taken a few stars off the ambience rating. The evening was not quite ruined due to the excellent food and service thankfully. The ambience should be five stars too because of the exquisite room we were dining in but it was ruined by one table of four people who felt the need to share their whole conversation with the rest of the diners. The room had one single diner, five tables with couples, all managing to keep their conversation private and respectful and a group of four, two of whom could not speak in a controlled volume and couldn't read the mood of the room. The staff did put background music on but it didn't help unfortunately. We all breathed a silent sigh of relief when they left.

10/10Our ‘go to’ venue for dining and afternoon teas. High quality in all areas. Unique ambiance in a listed former manor house set in beautiful grounds. Rural location. Based on a our experience we would highly recommend.

6/10The menu is varied but it seems that it is over-ambitious for the kitchen. We had fish that was tasty enough but over-cooked and a tarte-tatin with a pastry base that was under-cooked - indeed almost uncooked. The restaurant is pricey for the quality on offer.

We had eaten in the bar the previous night and thought it was tasty, so were expecting good things for the restaurant too, especially considering the increase in cost. Unfortunately this wasn't the case and we came away spending significantly more for less I felt.

4.5/10Unfortunately our experience of the restaurant wasn’t great. The food was slow, the pardon peppers were undercooked and bitter, our main course arrived before our starters, we eventually got our starters over an hour after ordering. Our mains came quickly but by this time it was nearly 10pm and the fish had clearly been warmed up as the sauce on the plate was dry and the fish had chewy edges and was cold. The beta led never arrived. The server was rude. However in fairness we complained and they didn’t charge us for anything as a result. The desserts were delicious. A real shame and obviously due to them being overwhelmed (we could hear a large group in another room).

3.5/10The bar has very few tables and sitting in the corridor outside the bar with drinks is really not an acceptable offer. We were only shown the al a carte menu although people were eating pizza in the restaurant. We were then brought the bar menu too and ordered pizza and then We were told there were no more pizzas available- seemed odd. We then ordered fish and chips and had to wait 35 minutes with no apology until I chased up the meal after 20 minutes. No offer of bread or anything to put us on. My batter was soggy and undercooked when it arrived. My meal was taken off the bill after I complained but altogether a very poor and disappointing night. Especially disappointing as it was the first night of our cruise holiday and we have stayed here twice before to great reviews.

10/10We ate breakfast twice and an evening meal and we very impressed. Gluten free provision for our daughter with Coeliac disease was excellent. The chef offered to make GF goujons and chips, fried separately for my daughter and she loved it as she did the tomato and basil soup with a GF roll. She was delighted! Very generous children's portions too. Adult food was also excellent!

8/10The hummus had no flavour and the kids menu was disappointing. But the steak and chips was amazing, so they pulled it back with that. One of the best steaks I’ve had, cooked exactly as I asked. Waitress was lovely and great with my daughter, all the staff are friendly here. We would visit again.

10/10My friend and l spent a wonderful afternoon at New Place. The afternoon tea was excellent with copious cups of tea. Efficient friendly staff, great ambience. This is a building with a very interesting history and well worth a visit. Highly recommend.

10/10The Hotel staff are so helpful, and made us feel welcome, the swimming pool was great as was the jacuzzi, The Hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the woodland walk is well worth it, the food in the restaurant was lovely, the rooms are nice and could of done with soap in the rooms. overall a lovely Hotel and I would visit again

8/10We enjoyed our dinner very much.We thought the breakfast let you down .We we’re asked if we wanted toast it was cold and limp when we we’re ready to eat it.The hot buffet breakfast was cold and not very appetising.Your service was let down when I requested Pineapple juice (I don’t like orange and cranberry) I was basically told it was too difficult Despite I had it the evening before
