Despite the Covid restrictions there were sufficient people in the restaurant to create a warm atmosphere. the staff were very attentive and the food excellent.
Quality of the food no where close to the prices charged. Thick chewy beef tartar for £16. No thanks. A piece of dry chicken for £24. Just not good enough. The cook should be ashamed really. I wouldn’t allow that food on a plate to anyone.
We had a wonderful afternoon tea - the champagne and the speciality tea were something special. Thank you for a lovely afternoon
The decor and service and table settings were fantastic. We had the gluten free option for afternoon tea--delicious!
A pleasant experience
Our afternoon tea at Charlotte Street Hotel exceeded our expectations. Other than the food the best restaurant feature was the decor and ambiance. The wall murals are fabulous with the balance of the decorating blending well with the feeling of the murals. Our favorite dishes were the finger sandwiches and sweet dessert cakes. We were seated immediately. Our server was polite and friendly, we wanted for nothing.
I wouldn’t recommend this tea. Food was poor with dried out sandwiches and soggy cakes. Smoked salmon was served on a dried out piece of rye bread like shoe leather. Didn’t feel fresh. Service also quite offhand.
Mostly great, lovely setting, beautifully presented food. The scones were a little hard. Possibly from being baked then reheated. The hot chocolate was too weak and when we asked for a second pot of Earl Grey the original pot was topped up with hot water making it very weak. On the plus side my daughter loved the salmon croque monseiur and we were brought extra of these on request.
Three of us ladies came for a 50th Birthday celebration for Afternoon tea. I phoned prior to the event and wrote on my book about one lady having a food intolerance and that one was having a big birthday. The waiter didn't know about the food issue and no mention was made about the birthday- disappointing. The waiter did check for food issues when he took the order so that at least dealt with that issue. The restaurant was exceptionally busy, busiest I've ever seen it in all my visist. The food and tea arrived promptly and the normal Afternoon tea sandwiches were tasty as were the scones. The cakes were average and the macaroon melted before it would be eaten. The second pot of tea was weak, as though tea leaves had been skimpt upon. As for the special food for the lady with intolances the sandwiches were bland, dry and looked tasteless. The waiter was friendly and not intrusive which let us have a lovely chat and chance to catch up. However someone was smoking outside on the terrace and the smoke which wafted into the diningroom which was very unplesant. I was disappointed with this experience as all my previous visits were lovely and hence my return. I felt I didn't get value to money and there was a lack in atmosphere. I got the feeling the luxury was missing due to the sheer volume of people in the diningroom.
We had afternoon tea and I thought selection of food was lovely. The highlight was the different sandwiches.
Nice venue, had afternoon tea, shame that there weren’t more traditional cakes on offer, not a lover of the over sweet macarons. In my opinion, as an avid scone baker the scones were too brown and over baked making the outside very dry. I like my scones very lightly browned on top to keep the middle lovely and moist. Disappointing to say the least as it’s the traditional scone that everyone loves.
We had a lovely time! Really great service, the best I’ve had in ages. All the staff were really helpful without being in your face. Whenever we needed something someone was there. Afternoon tea was great too. Lovely food. We also loved the whole decor and the a/c worked well too on a very hot day! Thank you.
Overall the experience of enjoying your afternoon tea with my wife and children was wonderful. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff were amazing. The only slight area of improvement is that we found there were too many sweet dishes and not enough savoury options but that could just be our own taste preferences. All in all, the experience was very well enjoyed and we would love to come back some other time. Thank you
Fabulous decor, convenient location, delicious Champagne tea, pleasant and helpful staff
I and 4 girlfriends recently had a fantastic afternoon tea experience at the Charlotte Street hotel. I'd made the booking a few days before and stated that we were celebrating a friend's birthday. Our table had been set up in a private dining room and made for a relaxing and memorable occasion. The service was excellent throughout the afternoon, as was the afternoon tea itself. Thank you
Loved this place. Really nice staff and delicious afternoon tea with a glass of champagne.
Good service, people where very friendly, didn't have to wait for our food so it was a good experience
Really great. Excellent service, very nice waiter, very good food- portions generous at times, cocktails wonderful and creative. I would return here.
Wonderful afternoon tea in the library to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The staff were lovely. Food excellent.
Staff took a long time to come and take an order for afternoon tea - there aren’t any decisions to make so just feels like you’re left hanging. No one came to check how our experience was or how the food was. I’d expect at least an offer of topping up the teapot. Overall, the scones were great, the service wasn’t.
