We enjoyed a set menu 3 course Valentines Day meal with a glass of Prosecco. The food was hot, well presented and very tasty and the portions were a good size. The restaurant has recently had a refurb and is tastefully decorated and furnished. If I had one little criticism it would be that the tables are a little too close together so any conversation is not particularly private. Not all the tables were being used so there could have been room for manoeuvre.

The overall feeling is the food was good and the menu had a good selection to choose from. The one negative was having my creme brulé served in a coffee cup and obviously was not freshly made. Even though the service was ok, one of the waiting staff did not know what or which dishes he was serving. I expect staff to know what they are bringing to customers tables as standard and could put some off returning.

Beautiful restaurant and staff were very friendly and food served promptly. Just felt the menu was a bit basic and pub like and not in keeping with the restaurant. The food was very nice though but think the menu needs to be a bit more up market. More dessert choices too, they were very poor.

The food was lovely but the service was appalling. Arrived for lunch, no-one in restaurant, no-one at bar had to queue at reception to book in behind another two people checking out. Told to wait in bar and someone would come. They never did. Then we were offered afternoon tea menu and seemed to cause a commotion that we had booked for lunch. Eventually got correct menu and food was lovely. Had to ask three separate times to three different people for a second round of drinks. The ? restaurant manager actually ignored us when we were waving at him. So disappointing.

Terrible … will not be going again, waited over 60 minutes for coffee, tea came out loose leaf and waited 30 minutes for strainers by which time tea was cold, scones returned as they were hard and burnt, 1 teaspoon for Jam,cream,mouse,tea/coffee etc, was like faulty towers

Server was polite however service was average as was the food, especially for the price charged. Only having selection of two starters and mains also made our experience more disappointing especially as was a suprise meal for our grandson and partner. Would probably use elsewhere for similar going forward.

Restaurant beautifully decorated, and small and intimate but enough room to sit and eat without being to close to other diners. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food enjoyable and pleasant experience all round. I would definitely return.

We only had a main course. The mushroom risotto was tasty. My husband ordered a daily special described as spatchcocked poussin. It was indeed a poussin but it wasn’t spatchcocked! Nonetheless it was full of flavour. Whilst it was a reasonably busy Friday evening the staff gave the impression of being run off their feet. We requested bread rolls which never materialised. The drinks arrived promptly but the waitress then removed a wine glass which was needed. Whilst she apologised for the error she indicated that she had worked too long a shift! The staff dashed from table to table which made the dining experience a bit manic.

Nicely set up and staff warm and friendly. We went for a Sunday lunch roast as a special treat during a holiday at home. We had to wait a long time to order - about 30mins. Then the dinner took a long time to come, possibly a reflection on the fact that we skipped starters. There was plenty of meat and a good variety of vegetables, cooked in the current 'al dente' style. The broccoli spears were much too raw for me to attempt tho I did manage other veg. Roast potatoes were good. We had a dessert but found the lemon lacking the tartness that we like. Probably a matter of taste.

We arrived a few minutes early but were dealt with in a professional and courteous manner. We were shown to our table. The staff were friendly and helpful retaining a nice sense of humour. The food and service were good. Look forward to our next visit.

Took my nan here for her 93rd birthday, booked for afternoon tea. Sat down at table for 6, under the table was an awful mess, slow service, sandwiches had stale bread, seemed hard, best thing about the whole afternoon was the scones, won’t be going here again. I paid £70 for the worst afternoon tea, I had ever had and this was a treat for my Nan, awful!!!

Excellent choice of menu. Great service from staff. Would have been nice to have a choice of unflavoured cider strongbow/magners/bulmers

We booked for Sunday lunch, the food was very good. Nice selection of vegetables, good portions of meat. Unfortunately the service let the meal down, as we had to wait 20 minutes for some bread rolls to have with our starter. However the Manager deducted our starters off the bill as a goodwill gesture.

From online I was under the impression we could have any of the different afternoon tea’s. I only attended with my partner on the impression we could have the picnic bench as we didn’t really like the menu for traditional. We got told we had to book 24 hours in advance.. but there was no option when booking the table or no inclination that stated it need this warning. I wasn’t very disappointed we couldn’t and didn’t have as nice a time because of this. Please make it clean on your website it involves 24hour booking and make it easily selectable for different afternoon teas.
