10/10Just a very pleasant low key place in a fabulous location with a great small plates offering and stupendously well cooked food. The small plates are not so small so be vcareful not to over order. Very friendly waitress.

3.5/10We booked iweeks n advance and on the night told they had run out of fish of the day. It's also now tapas style ordering and we were told to.order 2 dishes each. Apart from the beef we ordered most of the menu which was average. The bread and chicken were very good. The restaurant is in a challett style building cold as the door was open. Drinks over price and staff pleasant. Very different from our first experience there. There are better places to eat in Port Issac. The Mote and local chip shop. We wouldn't eat hete again.

10/10Absolutely beautiful food from start to finish. We had the sourdough bread with pesto butter, the octopus, them chicken thighs, the prawns, the Cornish potatoes and the tenderstem broccoli- all delicious and perfectly cooked. Thanks!

6/10The setting is wonderful and so the ambiance takes care of itself. Port Gaverne is a quintessential piece of Cornwall. We were the last lunch cover so the restaurant was quiet. The staff were all friendly and there were plenty of them, but service was slow. Although we had booked the day before I don’t think their heart was really in it. The restaurant is tapas style with an Asian/ world flavours angle. The padron peppers, octopus, scallops were good. The prawns were not cooked enough unfortunately and had a slightly past their best whiff. The sourdough bread was stale and 4-small pieces for £6.50 is steep by Cornwall’s standards. The negroni aperitif was very good. I’ve been coming to port gaverne, on and off, for 40 years and have seen its different evolutions. We’d heard great things about ‘Pilchards’ but I’d say it was ‘ok’. Over £100 for 4 small plates, and no wine with lunch - needed to be better and didn’t match the hype. Setting is fabulous. 6/10

10/10If you have never been to Port Gaverne. Make the time and go. And while your there visit The Pilchards. It's a great place to sit back and relax, while enjoying good food and a glass of your favourite tipple.

8/10We had a wonderful meal the service was great our waitress was polite and well informed who remembered us from eating next door at the Hotel. There was however one glitch and that was the really over loud music that meant that we could not hear each other! Which was a pity and rather wrecked our experience

8/10Food was really nice and with a little innovation as well. Small improvement is to have a few dishes with less spices as not everyone is so fond of them or anyway it allows a little rest for the palate. Overall it was a really nice meal.

4.5/10Very overpriced. All service personnel disappeared at the end for a break when we wanted to settle our bill. Really disappointed.

9.5/10Fantastic food. Only shame was that the food “arrived when ready” so sides arrive before mains and some have all their food before others even get one plate. Otherwise food itself was excellent and location/ambience lovely

8.5/10Came on successive nights Atmosphere lovely, location by creek glorious in the fine warm weather we experienced. We had 4 ‘tapas plus’ plates with 2 sides of vegetables on the first night : moules a stand out, On the second we had the John Dory which we thought the best fist of our week in Cornwall. Also shared some imaginatively spiced squid. Allow £60 a head with wine though.
