Food, service and ambience all excellent. Outdoor eating with sea view and very attentive staff. Tapas small plates were perfect. Will return soon.
Staff very helpful, food amazing, loved it, so friendly staff and view to die for, beautiful lunch, lovey wine, treats for dog, couldn’t ask for mire
Pilchards has been a firm favourite of ours this whole year. The staff are all well trained and keen to help. Food is the best in the area and it it has some strong competition. Cocktails are a great novelty in this seaside village. We love it and so do our kids.
Really lovely evening meal. The tapas style dishes are great. We particularly enjoyed the mussels, Octopus and the crab on toast dishes. Yum. The casual ambiance and the position of the restaurant right on the sea front was great too.
We have eaten quite a few times at Pilchards and it never fails to be excellent. The atmosphere is always friendly and casual with beautiful views of the sea
Food was delicious without doubt but overpriced. Mussels were tepid when they arrived at the table. Service was mixed. We had booked a table, and arrived well in time. The member of staff who saw us first, rolled her eyes when we came through the door and again when we ordered drinks. You would think they are happy for every paying customer during Covid times. The other waitress was noticeably more attentive and friendlier. We enjoyed it nevertheless as a change from the pub food along the coast path.
Brilliant little restaurant, must have the mussels with coriander and lemongrass - perfectly poached and VERY tasty! Loved it all, the hake was a winning main. Any excuse and I am back for more of this fab little gem with beautifully cooked food.
Perched right on the harbour at Port Gavenne Pilchards is a very cute little fish restaurant . The welcome was great , particularly our waitress who was excellent . Very friendly , fun but totally professional . Would like to applaud her. She made the whole food experience so good. Delicious food , presented well . A lovely experience .
You must go to Pilchards if ever you are in the area. Food was superb, staff were very attentive, knowledgeable & friendly. The way the food was presented was fantastic. Such a cosy quaint place with a good friendly vibe. Loved it.
Outstanding service, not only did we have 6 plates of amazing food, we also stayed for an hour after and had a second bottle of wine. Our hosts were awesome and as well as leaving a decent tip we also bought everyone a beer lol. We will be back on Wednesday!
Thank you for a super lunch, the crab and pilchards were delicious, pudding was perfect! Great atmosphere and looked after beautifuly by your waiting staff.
Wonderful ambience & situated in front of the bay at Port Gaverne. Stunning food, small plates so tasty. Had Fish of The Day - John Dory (for two people) absolutely delicious. Only irritation - you have to pay for sides on top of main plate. Totally recommend. Need to book in current climate of Covid to avoid disappointment in the evenings.
This fabulous beach cocktail restaurant is in a wonderful location overlooking the sea at Port Gaverne. We had a wonderful meal, the food was tapas style, very refreshing. The service excellent, very attentive staff and social distancing measures adhered to by the book. Will definitely eat there again.
Very cosy yet chic setting overlooking the ruggedness of the bay and crashing waves. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Covid safe measure including Perspex screens between tables that didn’t spoil the shack ambiance. Top quality food and drink, including local gins. Quality on par with The Ivy. A gem of a find on a weekend break. Will definitely be back!
Lovely lunch after a long coastal walk the perfect setting to refuel and bonus that our little Jack Russell was allowed in with us ...Great food and service reccomend .
Perfect setting one of the best in Cornwall . Service is excellent and food is fresh and hot . No problem to staff that we decided to eat outside .... don’t change anything
An absolute gem in a picturesque and peaceful setting. One of Cornwall’s finest, a must visit. Friendly service, great decor, amazing food, great music. We were totally impressed. Reasonably priced for the quality. Worked our way through most of the tapas items, with a couple of ‘for the table’ Items, desert, plus cocktails! All excellent! Will visit next time we’re in town. Worth a detour from your planned route for a visit.
Great location let down by very small portions.... I know it’s tapas small plates but maybe should reflect in price, a bit of a steep price for a very small plate....
Booked in at Pilchards earlier in the week ,to guarantee a table ,one was reserved inside but as it was such a lovely sunny day we choose to sit outside, lovely views of the beach from the restaurant ,we choose 3 small plates ,Mussels ,cod cheeks and cured sea trout ,with a bottle of rose ,in the sun,in Cornwall ,what more could you want ????
Really tasty fresh fish that clearly tasted like it had been caught today. Very friendly staff too.
