It was very busy, I was sat 30 minutes before I made an order, not even a drink, and then I was told most things on menu (about 70-80pc) were not available, ended up with a burger (which was fine). Staff very pleasant and hard working but let down by management’s poor planning for a busy day.

The Red Lion has good pub grub, not everything was available on the night though. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. There was live music which was enjoyable.

I had the “Whilst You Wait” Chicken Wings. Yes I waited and waited over 1 hours 15 minutes and then my main course finally arrived. The food was barely warm and the award winning sausage and mash with red cabbage was an award winning disaster. I would not recommend this pub/restaurant. The creamy mash was far from creamy more like a clumped together cold mash warmed up. The red cabbage with apple also contained a herb (tarragon) which isn’t stated anywhere. The sausages were barely warm but flavoursome.. This could be a great dish when cooked well and with passion. The chicken wings with BBQ sauce are identical to those served at the Premier Inn hotel. The service was good and the manager was empathetic and apologetic, offering us a free drink each which we declined, however she took 10% off the bill which we said was not necessary, nor the answer. I believe the kitchen staff need to know what they are serving and correct this mess.

Excellent service and food received from the polite young lady with brown hair and dark glasses. We ate in there on Thursday 25th May 2024 at 7pm
