9/10Beautiful premises, overall very polite staff but quite slow to come over, take the order and following up overall, the way is expected in a fine hotel and in rather regular standards as we had to chase them every time we needed to order. We had to ask for certain things a few times to be delivered and it took rather too long, approximately 40 mins for the food to be delivered. But we will most likely return.

6.5/10Have been to this beautiful restaurant on several occasions, but sadly we experienced an 'off day.' No greeting at the entrance, unfamiliar staff who seemed confused and anxious and a main course that arrived wrong, not hot and meat was hard to cut (without included side) This took 45 minutes to finally rectfy, by which time my dining companion had finished eating. Very uncoordinated service, so disappointing for this lovely hotel, blamed on 'the kitchen' Our server (he said he had been there 2 years) was very helpful and kind - all credit to him (and only him) but as for everyone else, they need extra training to understand how a restaurant of this calibre should function properly. The food itself was ok, but the Claremont is no longer on my priority booking list. I really hope things will improve and you will flourish again in 2025 to your previously high standards.

8.5/10For many years I've passed this hotel and never ventured inside. The ambience is lovely, the historical building maintains an air of grandeur. We went for cocktails then lunch (yes cocktails at noon). It was a pre Christmas family meet-up. our food was was good, can't say too special but it was nice, and we all enjoyed our meals. We would eat there again and already booking in our next occasion.

9.5/10Unhurried service. Interesting menu - had chicken tikka biryani - good portions. Able to hold a conversation - which is importnant when mewting friends. Will definitely visit again

9/10I celebrated my birthday at The Clearmont last night, 13 of us in total. We were looked after by an amazing team, headed by Dr Jackson. The ambiance was amazing as usual, the food a good standard despite a change in menu choices, which was rectified. A great night had by all. One not to chef, put back the baked cheesecake, the new replacement falls short. Thank you again to the team.

8.5/10The hotel is beautiful and so well designed. It smelt lovely like a sweet perfume. The staff were friendly and attentive and very polite. Waiting time was average but service was good. I ordered the chicken biryani and it was lovely well cooked and seasoned. Desert was the apple tarte but was too sickly sweet for me and could have been a bit more tart like the name. The Starter of pumpkin soup was the best. Overall the price was reasonable and I would definitely recommend. I haven’t eaten at a nicer place all year.

2.5/10While the space is beautiful and charming, the service was minimal at best and the food was mediocre for the price. We had a reservation. When we arrived, it took multiple attempts to get a staff members attention to be seated. One staff member who we assumed was a manager or host due to her attire repeatedly avoided our attempts to engage. Once seated, a drink and appetizer order was taken and drinks arrived. We requested to place an order and were told the server would be back in a few moments. After 45 minutes of waiting and observing diners in another area having already ordered and received food during this time, we approached a waiter in the dining room to request service. While he did come to our table to assist, he seemed very annoyed/angry and complained to us that our waiter had gone on his break and he was supposed to be on his break. The food eventually arrived and was delivered by new staff. To get the check, we again had to leave the table find a server.

7/10Four of us dined for dinner. Service from start to finish was appalling. Took our husband’s drinks order and promptly departed before myself and my friend ordered our drinks? When he returned 10mins later with our husband’s drinks we asked to order ours. Food was excellent although shame no check back especially since two of us had steaks but fortunately due to good chefs food was lovely. We sat for around 10mins with empty plates and eventually called someone over to clear our table. Staff seemed very unwelcoming and simply didn’t seem to want to be there? We would only go back again because all our meals were lovely shame the service lets this restaurant down.

9/10Beautiful restaurant and lovely, attentive staff. Four of us used the 50% offer. Good cut of ribeye although our mediums were more medium-well and chips were a bit cold. Although not on the menu, Chef managed to whip up a beautiful Cheeseboard for us. Good selection of wines and cocktails.

10/10We had 3 courses, all were very good. Steak outstanding. Lamb also very nice. Deserts (cheesecake and ice cream) were fresh and very tasty. Service lovely and restuarant has lovely decor..

9/10The food at this restaurant is quite good. We had burgers, and we both enjoyed them. The meat was cooked to a medium-well level (though I usually prefer medium-rare or slightly under) but it wasn’t dry. The burger patties were quite juicy and flavorful, likely due to their higher fat content. What really stood out was the environment and service. The ambiance is perfect for those who want to spend more time at a restaurant, chatting and enjoying their food at a leisurely pace. There is absolutely no rush, allowing us to fully enjoy our time there.

A beautiful interior to the hotel entrance and the restaurant itself and the general ambience was very good... not too loud so we could talk easily and it was a very nice touch with the special birthday cake given to my mother at the end for her 80th Birthday on her special day! Many thanks!

8.5/10The hotel is understated and beautiful, the dining area on the top floor exquisite. The food, whilst plentiful and tasty lacks a classic feel to some of the dishes. The Chef has a tendency to put Olive Oil in and on everything, which is strange. Butternut squash soup (previous had and delicious), is now served with the bread already added (not on side), soggy and the oil swirled all over. When pointed out to the server, was told it’s always like this and the point argued. Not believing that we had the same dish a few week prior and it was perfect. A lack of attention to customer as the evening worn on, hard to get attention or dessert menu. Thank goodness we were not in a hurry. Overall, despite the food hitches and staff that need more training, the Clearmont is beautiful and classy and a great stop to meet friends and relax.

10/10We booked a family lunch for 4 as a celebration for my daughter’s graduation and we had an amazing experience. We initially arrived about an hour early, and this was not a problem for the staff at all. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, as well as the calming atmosphere in the restaurant. Our food was delicious, with the presentation and flavours of the desserts being a highlight. At the end, a beautifully decorated ‘Congratulations’ plate was presented to my daughter with a generous slice of chocolate cake which made the occasion extra special. We were served by Cyan who was efficient and very bubbly, and the team overall really made our day. We will be returning in future!
