6.5/10The Roast is a pleasant restaurant on the appearance even if, in moments like Valentine's Day there is a lack of a certain intimate side that will be more in line with the magnificent setting of the restaurant. Tables very close to each other and a fairly large noise that prevents you from enjoying the moment. A rather nice meal despite a few things to improve for a better value for money. Quite high prices for very simple dishes. A more than average burger. On the other hand, an excellent signature Wellington dish! A beautiful and very vegetable setting.

10/10Met up with friends from long ago - perfect location, great food & service, classy environment for a special occasion or just to spoil yourself. Everyone we know who have dined here have all raved about it (and that's a lot of ppl)

9.5/10It's my second visit, this time with a larger party size. Staff are friendly and helpful. Let them know in advance if you have child/babies and they will be happy to help. Food is also at high standard and enjoyable.

10/10We have used The Roast many times - recent refurbishment has made the experience even better - Food is first class ( as ever ) - service has improved and now timed to perfection ( i.e prompt but not pushy ) - we will certainly be using this restaurant again

6.5/10Booked a table, upon arrival I was told that I can only have the table for 1.5hrs. It was never written anywhere when I was making the booking. This is not fair. Even waited for half an hour before we were able to order. Upon ordering, the waiter was so pushy about getting us some wine. But the wine menu was never on our table. Apart from that, food looks appealing and was delicious.

4.5/10The restaurant was recommended by friends as the "best roast they have ever had" so we went in with high expectations. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table and ordered food and drink within 10 minutes. The restaurant was not very busy at this time. After 5 minutes, we received the starter and drinks which were good. We expected the main soon after, however, 25 minutes after receiving the starter, there was still no sign of our roasts. We questioned a waitress and we were informed that "it's coming now". After another 10 minutes, we finally received the 2 roasts; one was barely warm and the other was cold. This is very disappointing; waiting 35 mins for mains which were served cold. We informed the waiter, returned the cold dish, and asked for it to be canceled as we didn't have time to wait another 35 minutes for another. We didn't enjoy the other plate as it was barely warm to begin with and getting cool fast. The Carrot was uncooked, basically still raw; needless to say, we could not finish the 1 plate. I will admit the quality of the beef was good but the problem was that it was lukewarm at best. After another complaint, the manager agreed to remove both mains from our bill. We definitely will not be going back as it was one of the worst experiences we have had in London. Beef Roast at £36 is quite expensive and I would expect a top-quality meal and service. This was not the case.

10/10My husband had been before, probably 25 years ago and recommended we visit to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Surroundings are beautiful, staff very friendly. The food was amazing, we had the beef wellington and the pineapple dessert. We will certainly return again.

8/10Great space, light and airy. Very sophisticated feel. Limited menu choice which is not great for non-meat eaters. Good wine choice- but pricey. We met for lunch and didn’t have too long to linger… could have proved very expensive if we had! Staff very friendly and efficient.

6/10The excellent food at Roast was let down by really awful service. I had to constantly ask for attention and staff were disinterested and bored. I was entertaining Japanese clients and it was embarrassing. The front of house staff should be ashamed of themselves.

The service (Jimi in particular) was exceptional. And the food perfect. The chateaubriand was reviewed as poor on trip advisor by a customer but was exquisite and the generous serving demolished. It’s a shame the train strikes meant that the restaurant was not fully booked. Second time to Roast and not the last. Highly recommended.

7/10Lovely setting sat above Borough market and the service was great. Food was pretty tasty although the size of the pie to share between two was not overly generous and the coronation trifle was a bit dry and disappointing. Still worth a visit again to try some of the other delicious, looking options on the menu.

9.5/10Enjoyed our first trip here amongst an incredibly busy day at Borough Market during a bank holiday weekend. One Roast and one Beef Wellington were spot on. A bit noisy but the acoustics are not built for quiet dining.

9.5/10we have experienced an afternoon tea at this venue, that was very satisfying for the choice and quality of teas and food. Our treats were fresh and well prepared, but we were not given any cream with our scones. This is only a minor complaint, however, and did not detract significantly from our overall experience. Atmosphere was great, overlooking Borough Market. Will be back some day.

3/10They didn't have our booking when we arrived - luckily i had an email confirmation. There was no heating and it was freezing, every table everyone was wrapped in their scarves, and they forgot about us and we had to keep asking for service

3/10Firstly, Roast had no record of our reservation. Nevertheless, they grudgingly found us a draughty table by the entrance and the loos, even though no one used any of the much nicer tables nearby for the whole time we were there. The waiter seemed unsure on his feet and his speech was oddly slurred - and he served us the wrong (awful) teas. When we asked at the bar for different teas, we were told only one pot of tea was allowed per person, so there was no chance of being served tea that we could actually drink. We would even have paid for a second pot, but no. The food was plonked down in front of us without a word, and at no time did any of the waiting staff ask us whether we were happy with the food. Incidentally, we weren’t very impressed with the food, and in my experience, afternoon tea of a much higher standard can easily be found in London at the same price. We didn’t even have a chance to ask for the bill, as our plates were swiftly and wordlessly cleared. When we went to the bar to pay, we refused to pay the ‘optional’ service charge. That did not go down well with the manager - but he didn’t bother ask us why we were unhappy with the service, so we concluded that he wasn’t interested in our feedback and the chance to improve his restaurant. We had high hopes, but we won’t be coming back to Roast.

5/10Disappointed with rare beef which wasn’t rare at all after it had been nuked in the microwave. Chef wouldn’t accept criticism and didn’t make himself available to speak. Front of house and waitresses were very good

7.5/10There were two of us and it took one hour to get our food. The waitress was sipping wine (on the sly) at the waitress station. Really good food with incredibly poor service. Such a disservice to the cooks.

9/10The Beef Wellington was literally perfect. The Big Ben cocktail with theatrics went down way to smooth. Had to swap our the roast potatoes for divinely creamy mash. I am full to bursting. Can I book a brunch with you? ;0D

10/10Whenever I come to London I have dinner at the Roast. We just love it and it never disappoints. The Sunday roasts are awesome.
