Excellent
Had a fabulous meal. The staff were really attentive without being fussy. The food was delicious. Would go again and certainly recommend to others.
Delicious lunch in a wonderful setting. Loved each course and the service was impeccable. I felt totally confident that the staff understood the importance of my food being gluten free (I am a coeliac)
Lovely food and service was excellent!
Food and service was excellent. Staff knew the dishes well and were very friendly.
Lovely experience last night in Roger Hickman’s - each course was delicious and the service attentive and genuine. Waiting staff were able to recommend and comment from experience about the wines we were choosing, even suggesting others and offering tastings before we committed ourselves. We tried a range from the a la carte menu and from the halibut to the rabbit and beef to duck each was presented beautifully and explained expertly! We’ll definitely be back when we come back to Norwich
Great cooking, friendly service. Laid back but formal atmosphere. Interesting amuse-bouches. Good wines by glass and half bottle always helpful when just two are dining together. My beef with mushrooms, shallots and dauphinois was perfect, melting together in the mouth.
Meal was really lovely and staff attentive pleasant experience as usual
We had a lovely Valentine's meal..we had the taster menu..with the wine flight. My favourite course was the blow torch salmon...it was delicious..so many flavours..my partners was the beef short rib... Our waiter was very knowledgeable helpful & friendly ..as I am a pescatarian he adjusted the courses for me.
Outstanding. Wonderful food, excellent service. Cosy, pleasant atmosphere,
Lovely welcome, great seating, large tables, excellent service
Loved all the dishes with a range of textures and flavours elegantly presented. Particularly liked the rabbit cooked in a variety of ways. The flight of accompanying wines were also highly enjoyable enhancing each course!
Lovely evening. Food and service five star.
Excellent food. one of us had been before and it didn't disappoint. We had the tasting menu with the wines. They looked after us very well and we shall be back
This really is a special place to dine. Amazing food. Fabulous staff who are engaging and very knowledgeable. Would throughly recommend a visit.
We enjoyed our lunch. staff were very pleasant and the service was good. The lunch menu is fairly restricted (3 dishes for each course) and I am not a meat eater. However the waiter efficiently produced a vegetarian menu which was helpful. In the end I had two fish dishes and my husband two meat. Both were well presented. My seared salmon starter was accompanied by a generous portion of shrimps but rather uninteresting and the garnish of lettuce was watery. My main course of cod in a chowder was delicious. The pork cheeks starter was very tasty and the main course pork belly was again well cooked. The rice pudding and prunes with Earl Grey ice cream was, surprisingly, the piece de resistance. We chose an Italian white wine from the Dolomite region which proved excellent. However I was cold in the restaurant which marred a pleasant meal. The door closure is ineffective and a draught consumes you whenever new diners enter. The solitary flower on the table ( gerbera) was on its last legs and if there is only one meat option on each course, it seems mean, or unimaginative to use the same animal for both. We would eat more often at Roger Hickman’s if the menu altered more frequently.
Great food served with attention and no pretension.
Simply superb
Absolutely fabulous, gorgeous food, attentive & friendly staff! We can’t wait to visit again!
The new menu has a great selection. We were a party of 4 and we enjoyed the dinner tremendously. The only comment was that the combination of the sea bass and pork belly did not work so well. Rather just trio of pork, with porkbelly ... However, dining here again was wonderful. Thank you and compliments to the chef and the whole team.
All felt a little underwhelming. Food looked nice but didn't really carry much flavour. Opted for the wine flight with the tasting menu. Wine brought to the table in glasses. I much prefer to see the bottle for myself and then hear a little about the grape/region etc.
