Over elaborate, slightly pretentious, fussy food with too many competing overbearing flavours. Friendly well meaning but slightly chaotic service . No hand towels left in ladies toilets so no means of drying hands. All felt a bit disorganised.

We had the first night of our honeymoon here and I can honestly say this was one of the best meals of my life. Every dish was so incredible that I worried the next one couldn’t live up to it, but it did. Friendly and knowledgeable waiters helped the whole evening along.

I first say the exterior of The Rothay Manor at 10yoa and was charmed. 48 years later I saw the interior and sampled the food… I was delighted by the ambience, the people and the food. Give it a go yourself. Chris
