Great Service and Food. The staff Even gave us a kingfisher and cobra beer for free and additional rice. It was even possible to get More curry, but the portion was really big and therefor enough for us. The taste was brilliant. A great indian restaurant.

Second time at Samrat, and it's still an enjoyable experience. The portions of food are really good. We tried king prawn curry and lamb chops tandoori. Both are good.

We came here for the reviews, and the location is not bad, close to one of the main tourist streets in Amsterdam. However, the food really lets this restaurant down. We only ordered vegetarian dishes, but that should be a safe option at any Indian restaurant. The Dahl was watery, and lacked lentils (!) and flavor. The Korma (specialty of the house) was the extremly sweet and creamy, not in a good way. Once again, it was very bland. The Cheese Naan was chewy, the rice was so so, and the ‘salad’ was not more than a few pieces of lettuce and cucumber. The dish with eggplant was tasty, but that was not enough to rescue the rest of the food.

Lovely central indian restaurant. Super central and still feels like not being in touristic Amsterdam. Sitting outside on a Sunny day is lovely here. The food tasted good and i appreciated the option to have veggie dishes as a sidedish or as a main, because i Always enjoy combining different curries.

Nice people, good place, very good atmosphere. The food was special, and the owner said us that we could refill the rice and the salads whenever we want. I would recommend it.

You find the English translation below: Enttäuschung pur. Nach all diesen super Bewertungen habe ich mich auf ein sehr leckeres und gutes indisches Gericht gefreut... Wenn man sich die Preisliste anschaut, denkt man sich in einem gewissen Rahmen der Qualität zu befinden, jedoch wird man direkt nach dem Servieren der Speisen maßlos enttäuscht. Dieses Gericht hat nichts mit gehobener indischer Küche zu tun (was man bei einem durchschnittlichen Preis für Chicken Tikka Masala von 17-20€ erwarten kann), eher gleicht es einer Speise von der Imbiss-Bude! Ein derart schlechtes Fleisch habe ich seit langem nicht mehr in einem Restaurant serviert bekommen... die ,Soße‘ glich auch eher einem Eintopf meiner Großmutter mit Erbsen und Paprika... ...Ein Griff ins Klo! Schreibe diese Bewertung, damit andere nicht die selbe Enttäuschung erleben müssen... Service war nett, Ambiente war auch ok. ENGLISH VERSION ... I was really disappointed about the quality of the Food, especially of the meat! I can not understand all of these positive recommendations that say how delicious the food was! When you take a look on the menu and the pricelist it seems to be a higher/ medium level of an Indian food restaurant (because the average Price of a meal is about 15-20€ for an Chicken tikka masala or something else), but after the meal was served you realized that this food tastes like a snack bar meal... I rarely ate meat of this bad kind of quality, can’t remember that any restaurant ever served such a bad and disgusting meat quality. But after all even the ,Sauce‘ wasn’t really Indian like, seems like my grandma‘s Hotpot with peas and pepper. In german it called ,a grip in the toilet’ but in English you might say ,a really really bad choice’.

The food was awesome and in big portions. Super liked the lamb chops tandoori! My friend ordered chicken kurma and she enjoyed it too.

The food was delicious and the staff lovely and attentive. We sat inside and there is also the possibility to seat outside. The main course comes with unlimited salad and rice, which is another plus in this great little restaurant! Also, the location is convenient in a quiet alley in the centre. Will definitely come back - thank you!
