I booked this as a pre theatre meal for me and my 14 year old daughter, who loves Italian food. On arrival I was surprised to find that it was a restaurant in a hotel and was almost entirely devoid of any other customers and therefore lacking in any atmosphere. The chilled hotel lobby type music did not help as it didn’t lift the vibe. Our first server was not particularly welcoming, but the waiter that we had at the end of our meal was really personable. And our drinks took quite a long time to arrive given the number of customers! We enjoyed our meal - the pasta in particular was really excellent and we have holidayed in Italy a lot! I would definitely recommend the pasta to others. … but overall I was disappointed to pay a lot of money for food in a restaurant that felt very flat and not in keeping with a treat night out for a young teen.

6.5/10We booked on fork but when arrived told restaurant was shut. They said they cld accommodate us in a different bar tho which was fine and helpful. However, took ages - over 10 mins when not busy - to take order tho and when after 25 further mins we had still no drinks, went and asked for them. Food took an hour!! When it arrived, we still had no cutlery and when I went to get some as kids were starving, waitress was very shirty with me. Broccoli was lukewarm, as was steak. Food was tasty tho. I think we might have been unlucky as we arrived 3.30 on day of London marathon and if kitchen wasn’t open etc but they perhaps shld not have let us in if they cldnt cope - and no one once referenced the long waits or the fact we had to go up several times to ask for things and to check on where food/drinks/cutlery were. If we had paid full price, I wld have been furious but didn’t mind as it was a Fork offer…

10/10My friend and I had dinner at Shakedown Bar & Restaurant. Both food and service were excellent and restaurant setting was very comfortable. Our server Anhelina was very friendly and helpful as she made sure my friend who was visiting London from Germany had her coffee with the foam showing the English flag! We had a lovely evening and I would recommend others to visit. Bring my friends there next week.

8/10The food is really good in general, menu is a little limited, and the issue I had were the portions not being big enough, starters and mains. Because this restaurant is linked to the hotel it can be very quiet and doesn’t quite feel like a hustle and bustle restaurant you would get in central. Overall we enjoyed it but could be improved with these pointers.

5/10the restaurant was almost completely empty but still pretty slow. food was nice but not particularly exciting, we felt quite rushed as the staff were packing up around us to close.

4/10The restaurant looks nice. However the service was poor. Despite being almost empty, they took a long time to serve our brunch dishes, and even some extra bread sliced when ordered. The food was nothing special, even a bit disappointing.

4.5/10I called to book as it was a booking for 3 days out so didn't want to leave it to chance on the Friday for Sunday and was transferred to the bar by reception it took a while for someone to answer they told me to book online and rudely hung up the phone without another word. When we arrived at 1455 for our 1500 booking the bar was locked up. We asked reception who said to try the breakfast room. We went there and they said the bar was closed and they had no booking for us. I showed the young man the confirmation he said that I must have forgotton to confirm it. Then I showed him this too he said he would get someone else. A lady came and made us go through everything again then she managed to find our booking. They unlocked the bar and quickly set a table they did bring the tea which was fine the sparkling cocktails were odd with a half dead flower garnish and granulated sugar in the bottom a simple glass of prosecco would have been preferable. Overall you get what you pay for and this was affordable so we had low expectations if we had not had the stress of the booking and the coldness of the staff both on the phone and inperson at the start I would have scored higher. I would beware of booking if this was for a special occasion.

9/10The staff are very polite, friendly and provides us with quality services. The food is fresh and also freshly made. The food in general is not too salty and the dessert is not too sweet, just meet our needs. The steak is cooked exactly as what we have ordered 'medium rare', that is cooked outside, and a little bit red inside, very soft. The ice cream is quite different from other restaurant which is not easy to describe, may be the signature of provisioners. We like it. The atomphere of the restaurant is peaceful as well as relaxed. In overall, the dinner gives us an unforgettable satisfaction.

4.5/10The hotel and bar area where they hold the afternoon tea are beautiful! The chair upholstery was quite stained and could be redone. The staff was nice, but not very professional or formal. We waited quite long until we could order. There is a selection of teas to choose from, with quite a few infusions options. I would rather have a few more "tea" offers, such as Darjeeling, Orange Pekoe or other black/green teas. The food: unfortunately the sandwiches were dry on the outside, already formed a crust, and did not seem freshly prepared. Any sandwich from Pret would taste and even look better. The scones were ok but also on the dryer side. The patisserie was under par quality. I had better cakes in any coffee shop. The tea is one of the more affordable ones in London at 35 GBP, but that does not justify the lack of freshness and professional presentation. I would not come back.

4/10Service very slow given the restaurant was empty (6pm on a Saturday, pre-theatre) and the quality of the food was disappointing given the price. It took over half an hour for our food to arrive after ordering …and the olives requested with drinks came at the same time. It was a shame as we had enjoyed the hotel bar beforehand which was very pleasant.

5.5/10I asked for steak to be cooked"medium well". The steak was cooked and served to me RARE. I couldn't eat it. When the server asked me how the food was, I pointed out the rare steak. He agreed, but only said, I'll talk to the chef. Didn't take the steak off the bill. So I paid for something I didn't order, complained about it, and nothing was done about it...

It was Christmas Day and I had booked this for the very reason to enjoy Christmas dinner as I saw there was a traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. We were told they had been busy that day and had lots of walk ins. So there was literally no point in booking if this was the case. You would think booking in advance would alleviate this but obviously not. Didn’t imagine myself eating bland cod on Christmas Day. Disappointing

8/10We enjoyed the meal, quality & can't fault. Service & customer service could of been better but surroundings & atmosphere was nice. Advertised as a special occasion, it just lacked a bit of sparkle, there wasn't the wow factor. Because of that, thought it a bit overpriced

8/10The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and the food is correct. We ate crispy squids... very good, a pasta carbonara that was very very delicious, one of the best we have ever eaten, and the wagyu burger, which was OK but we have been expecting much more due to wagyu beef. Drinks are expensive... a bottle of entry white vine at 29 GPB and 0,75 water at 4,50 GBP... Anyway, all in all worth trying.

5/10Was disappointed to be offered a measly hotel breakfast menu at 10:30am on a Saturday morning. I came based on a blog I had read about the brunch but the brunch food wasn’t available yet. Staff were funny about my booking and didn’t know the difference between flat whites and lattes.

4.5/10Nice decor. The food was fine, but nothing special, and took ages (mine was a bit cold). The service was atrocious - it wasn't busy at all but we didn't seem to have a dedicated server, we asked for an allergen card and the first waiter told us he'd bring it but never did, someone else randomly asked if we'd ordered and we hadn't, when we were done we had to go up to the till to ask for the bill bc no one was checking in with us at all.

2/10Unorganised and did not listen to us when phoning regarding our booking. We arrived and were seated in two wrong places and then was told the chef was no longer cooking 15 minutes after our booking. Do not recommend.

5.5/10We had booked for Saturday brunch. Arrived on time and sat in the cafe area rather than the restaurant which in hindsight was a mistake because all of the servers were focused on that area for hotel guests. After waiting about 10 minutes we were eventually given menus and then had to wait quite a while to order. Food came relatively quickly but was unfortunately underwhelming, and tiny portions especially for the price. The television was blaring when I walked in and asked the man behind the bar to turn it off, he only turned it down. They were playing other music so it just felt really at odds to have the TV on, and then have two soundtracks competing over each other. I'm not sure I would go back here. The decor is interesting and eclectic but I don't think that's enough to recommend in my opinion. Perhaps lunch is better?
