The atmosphere was great. I had taken my friend for her birthday and we both had the fish and chips and it was delicious. My friend told a member of staff that it was the best fish and chips she had ever had. I must say that felt the same.

We had booked a table for Sunday lunch and taken to our table, a tiny pub table that would have been ok for one , but my partner who is a large chap over 6ft and myself could just not envisage enough room to accommodate Sunday lunch in comfort. The member of staff then advised that we should queue to place our order, which at that point was five or six deep. I am sure that in summer the outside roomy extension would be fine , however squashing too many people inside is not conducive to a pleasant experience. We decided to leave, very disappointed.

The light bites menu is great value, had the fishcake with salad for £9 which was really tasty. Was a bit surprised that the house salad and falafel which added up to £15 was basically the same salad with 3 tiny pieces of falafel. So do yourself a favour and order from the light bites menu!

We’ve always loved The Bell as it’s cosy in winter and has fabulous outdoor seating in the summer. The staff are always cheerful and friendly and the food is always excellent.

Seven of us had a girls' lunch here and we'll definitely be back...the food was great, a wide choice of dishes, reasonably priced; the staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent
