10/10The food was great amd the waiter was brilliant, as a party of 6 ladies we asked him quite a lot of questions and he answered them all, he even asked if we could all have breakfast menu and if we all did, the kitchen would do it. Brilliantly cooked and tasted lovely. Only problem was everyone paid their own in cash and you only take card - so one lady in our group did all of it, but that wasn’t great really. I know it’s easier to take card but cash legal currency so maybe you could give that option ? But next time we will all pay separately with our own cards which with 6 of us would take a while.

10/10Our first visit and we took advantage of a breakfast offer that was running. We had lovely food and the staff were really friendly. Very clean cafe too.

9.5/10Lovely place to visit although do book as it was very busy. I think our reservation got missed but luckily there was one free table left. Food was excellent, and so were the drinks. Gorgeous views across the bay. Thoroughly recommend and we'll definitely be returning.

Lovely feeling - I actually said to my husband I felt like I was on holiday - the staff were friendly and helpful and as. Was supposed to be meeting my brother for our birthdays and he totally forgot, we booked for next Sunday hopefully he will remember !

8/10We had a lovely meal on their special deal for January. The staff were friendly and attentive. The only downside to the Bucket and Spade is that it is quite cold probably due to the large picture windows which look to a beautiful view but the 3 times I have been recently, my friends have said although ambience lovely they have felt cold.

Sadly the Bucket & Spade has ongoing issues with a lack of items on the menu, always put down to 'a busy weekend' and 'not had our delivery yet'. Even when you phone up in advance to ask if the will have a range of cakes for a coffee catch-up, you turn up and they don't. This café is food preparation - pancakes and waffles not home-made. The full breakfast was OK, but egg not fully cooked and the beans cold. The bacon just cooked. At £13 it should be spot on. The re-furbishment is great and views amazing, but the food does need to be top of the list. I don't like how a 10% service charge is automatically added (didn't see a reference to it on the menu?) - what on earth do they think customers should do? Make their own coffees? Pay your team a living wage and let customers tip if they want to! And yes, it will be saud discretionary, but made to feel awkward the. Sorry, not going back

I’ve never fancied pancakes, bacon & maple syrup. The thought of sweet & savoury together in one mouthful seemed just wrong! However, I was encouraged to try them at the Bucket & Spade & they are to die for. Absolutely delicious.

7.5/10The food was good and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant offers fabulous sea views, and has a great balcony for Alfresco dining in the Summer. However, I would prefer later serving and opening hours and lower ambient lighting during the evening.

5/10Booking procedure was fine. We were expected and greeted at the door accordingly. It was not very busy and we had a good choice of tables. We ordered from the Sunday Lunch menu and had a traditional British Sunday Lunch. The beef option was topside rather than sirloin so we both ordered the pork belly served with a pig in blanket. It came as a thick slice of rolled pork belly, without the crackling set on top of three roast potatoes which had probably been cooked well ahead, then finished in a deep fat fryer, so had a leathery finish rather than a crispy one. The somewhat large floppy yorkshire pudding filled with deep fried batter scraps was balanced on top of this impressive stack, which had then been drenching with gravy. A mushy side dish of cauliflower and brocollis topped with a browny white cheese sauce which had been hanging around for a while accompanied the overcooked roast parsnips and carrots which were served separately wlth mashed swede.

7/10Last September our meal was excellent and amazing. Today we were disappointed especially with the potatoes that seemed like they had been rewarmed and certainly didn't have the crispiness of last year. The Yorkshire puddings again seemed as if they had been warmed. However the beef was excellent but the vegetables were average. Overall as noted above disappointing. A further point was how noisy it seemed compared to previously when there were the same number of diners just generally chatting. The staff are absolutely faultless.

8/10Our food was excellent. Had it been served on a plate instead of a deep bowl, it would have been more accessible. Had the bowl been on a plate, we could have transferred the contents to it, and coped more easily. This would also have given us somewhere to rest our cutlery between mouthfuls. The ambience was light and airy with wonderful views. The service left much to be desired, with a sad lack of the courtesy accepted as normal these days. No-one needs be obsequious or subservient, but a few genial words would not go amiss in preference to no communication ie we were not asked if our meals were satisfactory, nor were we asked if we would like coffee or a dessert. It was glaringly obvious that tables were not cleared when on two occasions, when customers preferred a recently vacated table to the one they had been occupying, the dirty crockery and cutlery remained with them from the previous guests. A sad let down.

9/10Good to find an up to date stylish cafe/ restaurant that welcomes dogs and children. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Food was adequate but not always accurate to the description on the menu, fish was slightly undercooked in parts and presentation of veg was lacking. Overall flavour however was good.

8.5/10Location is stunning. Husband loved the roast and stated it was the best he’s had. I went for the ciabatta but the bun was burnt which was a shame. Friend of ours was veggie and she felt this was not well catered for.
