7/10Quite slow in taking our order but then we were served almost immediately. Never got chance to order dessert as staff were too slow. Overall it was good.

3.5/10The initial ambience and staff reception was excellent. However having to wait over one and a half hours (after ordering) to receive food and one dish of belly pork comprising of one piece approx. 3 inch by one inch, half of which was fat, being less than satisfactory. Given we received a discount for the food and inconvenience it did not compensate for a ruined night out. Presumably the situation could be greatly improved next time (if there is one). What do I say to friends and relatives who ask "what is the Castle restaurant like in Wakefield". I'm afraid I would have to say it as it is. Not good for your reputation !

9/10At first I couldn’t find it as the email and text gave me 2 different postcodes. Make sure you put your reg No in the console when you arrive, it’s on the bar. Lovely place and we had a garden view. Service was great.. Good choice of food and tasted great. Just a small note from me, my gammon was a little overdone as were the chips. Will definitely go again.

7/10Came for lunch with my sister, due to the menu changing over in a couple of days, the menu was somewhat limited. No pork belly, no nourish bowls, no steak sandwich, no cheesecake or crumble which was disappointing. However the sea bass was delicious

8.5/10Excellent food. Superb attention to detail over allergies/ preferences - one vegan in our party of four and also one avoiding any dairy products. Waitress Tracy was extremely friendly and helpful

9/10Came with the 50% off, restaurant was busy which resulted in a little wait for the food, all fairly good, the duck salad didn’t have a dressing on and my pizza was slightly burnt on the edges but overall was good and tasty

10/10I booked for my sister and myself for a birthday treat,it is a really cosy and warm place, the service was good, staff attentive even though they looked short staffed, food was excellent, just the Gravy which came in a little pot and was very oily, my sister couldn't stomach it when she saw the oil laying on the surface,

5.5/10So disappointed with my food. Ordered half a chicken with chilli sauce got quarter chicken with barbecue sauce. Which I felt at £17 is expensive. My wife's marcoron and cheese wasn't the best. Definitely never going back

8/10Staff very friendly. There was a delay in serving the food, mainly at the start. Good good - our party enjoyed the meal but thought the cost of the drinks were extortionate.

8.5/10Plenty of space to park, enter your registration on the iPad as you arrive. Seating was good and not too busy. A few things were not on the menu, scallops, potato dauphinoise and pork belly which made the coeliac diner a little limited choice. Food was a little slow taking just under 40mins to come out with a nudge. However, food was nice and warming.

4.5/10Venue is nice waitress was very friendly however the food served didn’t live up to standards Mushroom starter was dry and the sauce was basically non existent Main course all vegetables sauce and potatoes were cold the additional vegetables were also cold Waitress dealt with it personally and apologised when she was made aware so 10/10 for her as we didn’t make a big thing of it It goes without saying we will not be returning anytime soon as not only was it a terrible dining experience but it spoiled our weekend as then you have to go in search of an alternative to eat

10/10Fantastic Sunday lunch, we were sat in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Fair priced for the area and excellent quality too - the beef was beautifully cooked. Thank you!

9.5/10Warm welcome, attentive service and good food. What more could you ask for a lunchtime get together. The menu is varied with good choices from normal menu and Christmas Fayre.

10/10Good night, the food was good and the service was great. Don’t listen to the bad reviews! Local customers and frequent visitors! Mac and cheese is a staple favourite for the boy and we love the rack of lamb pork belly and they cook a great steak for a local pub restaurant too! Thanks

8/10My companion found the mushroom starter portion rather underwhelming but the main course of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly and helpful, and service was very good.

9/10The restaurant is always very welcoming. The service is good and the food is good. My only complaint is the roast potatoes are poor. They should be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside !! I feel they are cooked in advance then served as and when . This is the second time we have been disappointed but other than that everything was great.

10/10Although they had been on duty for the best part of a very hot day, Lydia, Emma and Dan were genuine in their welcome and attentive to our requests. The food and drinks were excellent, good value and well presented as well as being very good value
