10/10It was amazing. From beginning to end. Will (our waiter) was fantastic.. the food was absolutely amazing and it was quiet and cosy. (Wednesday night) .. we’ve always loved The Chequers.. but now we love it even more.

9/10Excellent and interesting food - beautifully composed, cooked and presented. Savoury tarte tatin starter, steak bavette with perfectly cooked fries and mushroom burger mains, with classic sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream Very friendly and convivial chef and staff

7.5/10The two of us were seated in a mid room, between the main bar room and the larger granary room. It was the only table in this area and was also shared with the entrance through to the loo’s. It didn’t bother us as we like our privacy, but may feel a bit remote for some. The back ground music was pleasant and of perfect volume. The inside temperature was verging on the cool side of comfortable on the day of our visit. We enjoyed our Sunday lunch, through all three courses, with our shared starter and dessert being particularly delicious. The gap between courses was spot on for us. Our choice of wine was excellent and accompanied the meal perfectly. The friendliness of the staff was just right, with the gaps between the courses being well timed.

10/10First ever visit here, and only came on the off chance as was driving past. Luckily was able to book a table, for me, my partner and 2 dogs. The food was delicious- we had a chicken and port roast dinner with a side of cauliflower cheese. Best roast potatoes we have ever had while eating out, can tell these were proper home cooked ones. I couldn’t get enough of the cauliflower cheese either! Would highly recommend!

10/10The staff were fantastic, the pub is so beautiful and the garden is lovely too. The menu is great and the food was really good - high quality ingredients, well presented and delicious. It’s a beautiful village pub in a beautiful village. I’d recommend it to everyone.

10/10The staff were friendly and the food was amazing! One of the best Sunday lunches we've had. Full of flavour and reasonably priced. We would definitely go back.

5.5/10Disappointed by the food as it is a lovely looking pub with great surroundings. Pork belly starter was 90% uncooked fat, which was simply inedible, and all 3 of our mains subpar for the price. It was at the very end of the service on a Friday so may have just been tired chefs but would have loved to have some higher quality food from what otherwise seemed to be a really promising menu.

8/10Liked the ambience. Food not so much. Standard UK pub food though. Shouldn't expect more.

8.5/105 of us had a very nice lunch after a 5 mile walk. The staff were very welcoming and had a table ready for us. We had two small fish and chips, a perfect size for lunch, and 3 Linguine, all very tasty and well presented. We’ll be back and thank you. Penny

8.5/10This is early days for the new team but it looks as if it will be a very good pub/ restaurant when the menu is expanded

6.5/10As a local wanting to dine regularly here, it would be nice if the menu was changed regularly or specials added to it. I was disappointed last night to discover my choice of main course sold out by early evening. I had the burger which although tasty, came with no greens whatsoever.

3.5/10Unfortunately this place let us down. There were no printed wine lists, the food came out differently than describes on the menu and was explained away as a typo when questioned. We were sat in a lovely room at the back but then forgotten- we had to get up to ask for menus, order drinks etc As a Mother’s Day treat, a few of us had roast dinner and although what we did get was tasty, it wasn’t a substantial roast with only 3 small potatoes, a little bit of broccoli and one tiny piece of hispi cabbage. We did speak to no the staff about how we felt but were left feeling like they hadn’t listened and understood our concerns.
