Excellent front of house team and a good selection of food that is clearly carefully worked through and cleverly put together. Lots of little extras thrown in for good measure but it is expensive (Michelin star prices) and I’m not sure it quite justifies them yet.

The front-of-house team was absolutely delightful, and attentive. As for the food, it was generally enjoyable, though the salmon and lobster dish, as well as the chicken dish, leaned too heavily on the salt, which overshadowed their natural flavors. Out of the five tarts we ordered, one arrived with its pastry sadly broken, which was a touch disappointing. While the overall experience was good, the price point felt slightly steep for what was served. A charming spot, but a bit of refinement in execution could elevate it further.

We were, and my guest friend is a "Vegan". So I decided to join. Being a first time eater of "Vegan" food in a Chubby is/was a new experience to me. I did not know that so many varieties of food can be made in this category. I enjoyed it and my Vegan friend said it was very good. So, I am quite happy about the whole situation, whereas one or two places in Peterborough, (although in their site mentioned as Vegan Friendly) turned us down in spite of initially taking a booking. I have been and I will be going to Chubby for many many years ( had several names though), and it has been a great place to eat. Dr.V.M

Wonderful find. Excellent lunch. All courses were flavoursome and well balanced. Very good wine at an amazing price. Didn’t have pudding as we were replete from everything else, although the selection looked delicious. Definitely recommend.

Excellent meal served by a very attentive waiter. Unfortunately we were the only 2 people in the restaurant at lunch explained by it being* half term. The only small criticism is that we would have preferred another savoury course in the five course tasting menu rather than two desserts. We will definitely be back.

What a great find. Food, service and ambience all top notch. If this restaurant doesn't get a Michelin star very soon I would be astonished. The serving staff were knowledgable on what they are servicing and made some excellent wine suggestions. It was refreshing to see a wide variety of excellent wines by the glass. The food was astonishing, as good as any one and some two star restaurants. The restaurant itself is in beautiful castor in a very old building. However inside is modern just like the food. Outstanding.

We had high expectations for fist time customers, and unfortunately it just fell short of the mark. The seating is not suitable for “Chubby people “ and unfortunately there was a large amount of shel in the Crab starter. The rest of the courses were good but we felt rushed between the bread and starters. All in all it felt a bit overpriced.

We had generally a disappointing overall experience, Considering the price at the food was good but they were such small portions it was not adequate. We had seven course meal and left feeling dissatisfied and still hungry.

Eaten at this restaurant a few times over the last couple of years and the service has been, and still is, excellent! The waiting staff are friendly, attentive and efficient. The Sunday lunch is excellent, adapted well to Gluten free too, wouldn't hesitate to revisit in future.

Well presented restaurant. Diverse menu. Food on the whole delivered, (scallop was delicious). Evening let down slightly by service as we found ourselves getting up to get our own wine to pour which was not left with us at the table.

First time visiting the restaurant, nice warm welcome and showed to our seats by the window. We opted for the tasting menu and my wife also had the classic wine pairing which is well worth the money and would advise. Stand out dishes for me were the haddock (quail egg was beautiful), steak tartare the skill that went into this made for a perfectly balanced dish, my wife’s favourite was the Braeburn apple tart and again the skill into the pasty making 10/10 with the black muscat wine a perfectly matched desert. Only disappointment or feedback on the meal was the lamb/stuffed hogget, the fat wasn’t rendered well and this was unfortunately inedible which was a shame, only plate or dish sent back with food still on it. Overall the service was confident friendly and each dish articulated really well with true passion, the wine was matched well and would have liked to hear more about the thought process behind this and wines were excellent . Price wise felt about right. Will be back to see what the autumn menu has to offer. Best meal we’ve had in and around the Peterborough area

We love everything about the Chubby Castor - the location, the people working there and the wonderful, friendly welcome and service they provide. Most of all it’s the menu and the delicious food which never fails to give immense pleasure. It’s always a treat to go there and we’ll be back.

Beautiful food very nicely served. However, we were served appetisers pre and between courses (we booked the £70 a head alacarte) which we didn’t ask for and presumed they were part of the deal. Disappointing to be charged another £50 plus. Total bill for 3 £470 including drinks (3 beers each a bottle of wine between us and a couple of single malts each ) Great service lovely food but overpriced.

Thank you for your review. Sadly we still had to charge you for all your 7 courses, even if you and your partner had a disagreement and decided to not touch your food or wine and walk off a few times, while disturbing other diners. Hope to see you in the near future in better circumstances.

The food was of a good quality, but for the money I would expect a higher calibre of food. For example I can have beef at home, but something like venison would be better. We felt underwhelmed by the choice of ingredients
